And boom, just like that, my iPad's display stops working. It may have had a charmed life since I got it 4 years ago, kept constantly dropping it, but I think it finally succumbed eventually to the micro fracture in the lcd screen after all the drops it survived.

You know what? I have an Amazon Fire tablet. I took it to Argentina for my last 3 month trip and did all my work on it. I prefer a laptop but like to travel light. It served me really well and at a fraction of a cost to an ipad. I have an iphone but can't see me ever paying what Apple charge for ipads and laptops. But that's just my take. I don't see the value.
Amazon Fire Tablets are pretty good machines.
I had one but GJ jr stood on it a few years back and when I tried to buy one when I was in USA , there was temporary stock problmem.
I am now using Teclast and love it - super fast operation.

I have found them on amazon and they look great and a similar price to Amazon Fire. I''m not in the market for a new one but glad to know about these ones for the future.

Tomorrow and Tuesday. At least carnival in South America calls for scantily dresses. I remember when I bought a dress as a brasileira when I was a kid, only to find out that I'd be freezing in the damn thing in February in Italy. I tried to wear long sleeve shirts and leggings underneath, but I was still f***ing cold. I still have that dress and I can still fit in. I tried it last summer when I visited.
