I’m glad to know this, thanks! I love language and always like to learn things like this.

As an American, I’ve always just spelled all whisky with an “e” and thought when you Brits omitted it, that was just one of those spelling differences we have, like color vs colour.

LOL. I’ve always grinned when hearing the extra syllable in ‘aluminium.’ And in ‘speciality.’

At least whisky and whiskey SOUND alike!

I think the Japanese spell whisky/whiskey as follows

ウィスキー

You could be right about the Canadians though .

Outside of CANADA and USA , who drinks Canadian?
