You just have to love those agonized writhing displays. A real art form.

Only for the second time.
Don't think Messi deserved it, I think the player should have been booked for simulation
Rice it's being going on for years faking injuries to get a player sent off, especially in the La Liga. I went to Spain in 2014 and saw a tv show devoted to the art of diving. Quite shocking how they allow it to go on

A local footballer's dad was beaten to death today at a football match in Tortuguitas, when he went to intervene in a tussle in which his son was involved. They turned on him, kicking him in the head and he died in the trainer's arms.
Four people were arrested, one of whom was a woman of 33.
Unbelievable.

Tragic. In sports and in politics, people seem to be turning to violence to settle their differences.
Will the 21st century be known as a turn towards barbarism?

Was this tackle on Messi really all that serious?
Seems to me that the tackler was committed and I have seen much worse and more deliberate tackles.

It's a horror tackle but oddly in terms of pure rules, probably just a foul. He would get a red card possibly for serious foul play, but the reality is he is just late.
Still, that's a really dangerous tackle and a potential leg/ankle breaker. As is the case with all these types of fouls it has a lot to do with the standing leg of the player receiving the tackle, and weight distribtuon etc. I am re-watching it multiple times and it's a shocker. I have seen worse, for sure though.

I would say a definite red card.
As Semigoodlooking says it's a leg breaker.
He lost control of the ball and didn't look at what he was doing

It wasn't meant but still against the rules. Good decision by the ref although I wonder if it would it have been the same decision had it not been Messi?

There have been worse that have not even been yellow carded for offences like that

How the 1978 World Cup was used by the military junta to whitewash the real facts behind the façade.

It's 35 years since Maradona scored that incredible goal against England.

Another one showing the breath-taking skills of Maradona. His relationship with the ball was practically a love affair.

That was harsh on Wales, come on, no one deserves to be beat 4-0. VAR and the referee was a joke in the game

I managed to connect with BBC iPlayer through a VPN to watch England play.

England 4 - Ukraine 0

Not that I've been watching it but it seems to have been a strange tournament. So I wouldn't be at all surprised if England were to win it.

Argentina beat Ecuador 3-0 last night and Messi's injury time free kick was the perfect end for the team. Pinpoint accurate.

Good to see Messi playing the leader`s role. Will this be the year that Argentina win something?

Let's hope the lads do as well against Colombia tonight.
We'll be watching on TV Publica.

Colombia is a tricky team but Argentina should be up to the task. Fully expecting a win.
