It’s definitely seasonal, and summer is generally when they’re plentiful. The Midwest is where they are grown (unlike Argentina, where many come in from Ecuador), and we are surrounded by farms.

Popped out to the fruit and veg shop for tatties. Couldn't believe they were $220 a kg!!! I only took $400 with me so could get six and one of them ended up being rotten inside. Looked up Asda online and they're less than half the price in the first world. This country's retail trade is a fucking joke!!!
Argentina doesn't bear any relation to the real
firstworld. Surely you know that by now? -

After busy day now back at base enjoying a very nice beer!

The missus went to Cardon in town and brought me back four pairs of trousers to try on.....she must have been feeling guilty about her latest spending spree!!
One was light cream coloured so as I do tend to dirty easily it was soon cast aside. Two were drainpipe style and made me look utterly ridiculous. The last a classy jean was perfect.

Drainpipes are the height of fashion......
I am sure you looked very dashing!

I’m just trying to wrap my head around your having a wife who even does your clothes shopping for you, UK Man !
She knows I wouldn't spend the money. I hate clothes shopping especially for trousers as the sizes here are all over the place.

Went to see and take some goodies to the MIL. As the care home is on the outskirts of town it's an enjoyable place to visit. I wouldn't complain if I ended up there myself. Nice people.

Wouldn’t you be up a creek, not speaking Spanish?

At the end of the dirt road when coming back from the countryside today we were flagged down by a police pick-up roadblock. We've seen such before but this was the first time we'd ever been stopped.
Now I have to say the missus who does the driving, can get a bit bolshie with the police here - she thinks they get paid for doing fuck all - so I expected fireworks. However, after asking us for our ID and them being surprised by meeting a Scotsman in the middle of nowhere it all turned out okay. Especially when the discussion went from ''looking out for undesirables visiting the local area'' to ''communists in Brasil and Argentina''.
The missus loved them from then on even apologising for her husband's crap Spanish!!

I find these police checks a pain in the ass because it can happen several times a week for me. Motorcycles are clearly targeted by the police, but now I will probably be more tolerant of them after the murder of Mr Blaquier.
Mind you, I usually say I don't speak Spanish just for the hell of it which lightens the atmosphere.

I haven't been stopped for some time - probably since the first months of the Pandemic.
Sweet innocent face clearly convinces them....

Today the US leaves Daylight time and returns to Standard time. I much prefer Argentina’s system: pick a time and stick to it!

Had a coffee at Dickens today with my old pal Corchito. Although he's now famous around the world fame hasn't gone to his head.

He is a scholar and a gentleman. In fact all the dogs in the cafe are very well mannered....no begging for food was witnessed.

Our Yorkie (Cooper) had an accident yesterday, leaving him partially paralyzed from the neck down. We are to take him back to the vet today and a decision
will have to be made for his care. He wasn't "just a dog".
The decision was made to put our little Yorkie to sleep!!!!

Sorry to hear that. Hopefully there's a chance of him improving with time?

Oh Daniel, I am so very sorry! I know very well how painful the death of a much-loved pet is. And I, also, have had to make that heartbreaking decision. Very awful. But please remember that you made the best decision for him, although such a tough one for you.
