Dear God. That is so much worse than expected.

We are accustomed, as the Japanese with the Tsunami and earthquakes.

At least it's believable unlike the nonsense the previous lot used to come out with.
Still lots of leftover shit to shovel up before things improve I fear.

I know politics is politics, but Macri and crew shouldn't have made all those wild predictions of inflation going down to 19% back in 2015.
None of us believed that shit, anyway and they knew it. This is a PR poison dart for them as far as I'm concerned and they've fucked up in so many ways.

The target for 2019 ?
Will anyone believe it?

The great mistake of Macri was not following the advice of Machiavelli in "The Prince".
If there is an evil to do, do it at once. Then, do the benevolent things gradually.

A friend mentioned to me that the IMF target for Argentina is 22.7% - I wonder if this is still accurate . It may have been revised
if we get between 25 and 30% we will be doing fine.....

That is what I presume, as well. One cannot end the inflation process in a short time. (unless we were Germans or Israelis, which we are not)

Yes I wish politicians would just say what they really think.
What Macri should have told us was the truth. Along the lines of...''the corrupt ugly little cow and her followers has left Argentina in even deeper shit than we could ever have imagined....so don't expect the country to improve much over the next 30 years''

That's a very relative statement, mate.
The problem here is, people accepting the unacceptable. 25 to 30% isn't acceptable either.
In fact, between 2004 and 2009, it was less than 10% and at times at around 4%.
What went wrong?

I suspect those figures were 'manufactured' by diverting the country's financial assets to other areas in order to manipulate said inflation rate. Like all temporary measures, if you don't fix the actual problem the birds will come home to roost at some point. Successive Presidents have been far more interested in being liked than fixing the country's problems.
That's why Macri was left with a massive pile of other people's shit to clear up. I feel sorry for the bloke...

And I add: Macri never had a majority in the Congress. That is a great disadvantage if you wish to clear up all the mess previously done.

Roberto Lavagna was a pretty good economy minister and was responsible for getting Argentina back on its feet after 2001. That is, until he was sacked by Kirchner in November 2005 and matters appear to have gone downhill from there.
-
-
I never understood why Kirchner fired Lavagna. Perhaps he wished free hand for making the grat "sack of Rome" in our history-
Or perhaps Lavagna was akcnowledged that the robbery already was going on.
The great advantage of Lavagna (74 years old) is that he is an experienced expert. Nothing to do with those "Young prominencies" that appears to be so brilliant, and then they do not foresee the disaster.
-
-
What is Lavagna doing now? Not too old for a return engagement....

It seems that he is chatting with Pichetto, a peronist that do nor wish to be associated with CFK, to talk for a new alliance of what we call a "Republican Peronism".
that means to make more civilized that party.
Pichetto is now the head of the opposition in the Congress.

I thought he was chatting with Massa?
