Costumes, er uniforms, provided by the wardrobe room of an old James Bond movie.

With one small wardrobe adjustment I'm sure they could march unopposed right through the whole South Korean army and be in Seoul in hours.

Unless there are a lot of women soldiers in South Korea.

Sorry, can't help it. Just too many years of conditioning, I suppose.

Argentines queueing on the border with Chile ahead of the Pope's visit on Monday. Of course, those queues would have been reversed if he'd deigned to visit his home country.

... then they said they were sorry.

Good thing no one pays any attention to government officials, right?

    Run for the hills!

Colossal SNAFU. Can you imaging the terror? There they are, hanging in the middle of the Pacific, with the world's two pre-eminent madmen threatening each other with their nuclear weapons over your home. So when the "take shelter" alarm is issued, of course they wouldn't think it was a mistake. Literally nowhere to run, nowhere to hide.

On the positive side, in today's climate of non-apologies ("I'm sorry IF YOU took my words that way," or "We apologize for ANY inconvenience"), Hawaii's Emergency Administrator, Vern Miyagi, issued a real apology: he said this was his fault and that he took full responsibility. When did you last hear THAT?

And on the humorous side, this headline from The Hill:

Ex-Obama defense official on Hawaii false alarm: 'Thank God the President was playing golf.'

Funny! And this reminds me of an expression I learned from a mutually favorite series, Blue Bloods. Never before knew that when a policeman says "We need a bus!" He is requesting an ambulance.

Do you dare to pierce it with a small plane?

I will skip it inmediately. These clouds are the most dangerous for a plane.
