Tell her that she should be feeling decent by tonight. I’m so sorry she was smacked in the head by the vaccine!
She's been up and about for a while and been bossing me about so obviously back to her usual self.
I reckon she just used it as an excuse to have a lie in this morning.

If you tell her that, I wouldn’t give a plug nickel for your life!

A woman's prerogative, or so I'm told.

Must be in the fine print!!!!

I know when to keep my mouth shut!!
She's alright now. I must admit although I didn't have any physical reaction to the second Sputnik dose I have felt a tad light headed today with some strange thoughts going through my mind. I wonder if the Russians are up to something....maybe they're using it as some sort of mind game? Anyway, as far as I know despite being fully vaccinated I'm unable to travel to the UK until the European MA as well as the WHO gives the vaccine its approval.

Last year, for most of the year, worldometer ranked Argentina #11 in the world, in Covid cases.
Now it is 9th. Am I remembering wrong, or was Argentina #8 just a few weeks ago?
Has Argentina’s fight against the virus so improved as to move it back down in the list? Is reporting of cases simply less reliable than before? Or is Iran, now #8, experiencing such an increase that it makes Argentina’s numbers better by comparison?

Rice - it's Irans poor performance more than a good showing by Argentina.
Numbers have slowed down as vaccination numbers increased but I am still fairly sceptical about the figures here. I think they have been massaged by the authorities as per the needs of the Revolution...
...or the mid-term elections, probably.

Of course this will be anecdotal and not scientific, but do any of you have the general feeling that things actually are improving? Hearing of fewer cases among people you know, or know of?

Certainly fewer cases getting talked about.
In our extended family, only one family caught the virus, right at the start. Nothing since then.
Having said that we did all take the right precautions as per recommendations and common sense

This is the key. Vaccination above all, then distancing and masking as appropriate, if we care about our families and neighbors. Although there are certainly selfish people everywhere, it seems to me that Argentina has far fewer people with the attitude of “My freedom to do as I please comes first; your freedom to stay well and alive, be damned.” Thy neighbor as thyself.

Where we are the situation in cases and deaths has improved. The hotel next door to my MIL that was being used for quarantine purposes hasn't had a 'guest' for several weeks now. Having said that I suspect judging by what's happened elsewhere in the world it's just a lull and they'll probably rise again.

Social distancing seems like a thing of the past now.

Talking of social distancing, yesterday there was a massive homage to Nestor Kirchner at a football stadium in Moron - an appropriate name for the location.
32,000 people packed together, no masks and zero social distancing,
The Idiot In Chief himself led the ceremony, but there was no sign of his boss. Jeez!
For more pictures, go here, if you can bear it.

You couldn’t have made up a more appropriate venue name. What’s the MATTER with people?
And of COURSE Xtina wouldn’t be there to honor her late husband with the crowd of worshippers. Her chances of re-achieving the presidency just dramatically improved. No election or ‘suicide’ needed.

Argentina has surpassed the former champion, USA, with more deaths per capita from covid. But fear not: Brazil, Romania, Czechia, Georgia, Bulgaria, San Marino and Gibraltar lead Argentina, and Peru leads all. By a lot.

What about Germany - are they not advancing quickly from the rear?
-
-
You’re right, GlasgowJohn , Germany is trying to fight its way to the top of the list, with a surge in new cases.
According to worldometers, in number of cases, Germany is now #11, with 5,038,322 cases, compared to Argentina (still #9), with 5,305,151.
But in deaths per million population, Germany is still at 1,167, while Argentina has had 2,540 per million.
