I don't know.....maybe trying to catch some of Nicolas Cano 2% votes...... hahaha

I'm really disappointed with him making such a total useless proposal.

Even FF, izquierda or any other opponent did not get on this idea....

I have another great proposal: how to curb the industry and sales at the same time as doing something good for the global warming:

Ban midsize cars......this way you will force people to spend more money on a large size limousine or downgrade to a small sized car!!!!! Win win.......

    🤡

  • The wife keeps a gun under the bed. =O

Must admit I get a shiver whenever I see a young policeman/woman carrying a gun while they stand smoking a fag and texting on their mobile. Makes me wonder how proficient they are at handling a firearm.

I'm quite active in sport shooting and have been many decades both her and in Europe........so I have frequented a lot of the poligon places here in Buenos Aires, and have meet quite a lot people in that area......and I can only confirm your fear is justified!!!!! In GENERAL, (not 100%), the police-things, (gender not allowed), do not get any real shooting training......or maybe 10-20 shots a month or so...... nothing!

Same with many or most in money transport business, the armed vehicles driving around. Most of them have totally outdated worthless guns. I've seen the "shooting" training they get many times........it's a pure formality, they enter the poligon in huge groups, say 20 people, money is exchanged, fire arm trainer signs all papers for RENAR/ANMAC, then the group leave......in a matter of max 30 min!!!!! Without firering a shot!!!!!

Though, I know several policexxx that has interest in guns and target practice.....but it's not part of job, (unless u r in some swat unit or whatever). So the girl u see on the corner with the cell phone and a gun......doubt she has the slightest clue, (say in 90% cases).

Well thanks for the new nightmares, @JAN . I used to think of these guards and police as merely ineffective, not dangerous.

  • serafina I doubt they are dangerous....

    But this is not America!!!!!

Many police go to jail just for trying to save their own ass......so having a gun is not really an asset for them! Beside that, a policeman goes to jail, or need to move to another country if he kills someone.....the relatives will track him down and make life impossible!!!!

So, that's why police WhatsApp more than polishing their guns.......I pity the police, I feel seriously sorry for them.....I have a different, more German, respect for them, even that u might have bad apples in between. The proposition from Macri yesterday, (even that it's targeted civilians), just goes total against my believe....

  • Rice .....

    I agree.......

    Assuming that they are loaded....:/

You have quite often that police here end up with a jammed gun......fatal if in a wrong situation......

It's because of many still have old guns, and, they never get used and tested frequently.......one if the most often reason is that it's kept loaded looong time, then the magazine spring get weak, and u fire one or two shots and after that it does not cycle anymore and jams!!!!!

Any real American would know about this kind of stuff......but here I'm not so sure.

The police here are really to feel sorry for.......we are talking about people that might put their life at risk for some meth high crook. In America it also happens same, but at least they are better prepared.

At least they gave a lot cops new guns here some time ago, the metropolitan police......but still I see a lot police with really old pieces in their holster.

  • and still to little, what a shame!!!!

They say, according to different computer calculations etc , there was 500.000.......

Show a clear support for mm here.......in Caba......a pity that the masses are somewhere else!

  • exact......it's really nice to see that we expats are not the only ones that think this way about the country future!

And without handouts, chorripans or or!

I have never in my life taken part of a manifestation, and I never will......

Regarding dangerous: these type of events I would never attend for sure..... knowing the other side.....the immense chaos and disaster someone could provoke......I know nothing happened, but.....look around our continent, Ecuador, Chile etc etc......

    • Official Post

I wouldn't attend a manifestation, either. I was just referring to the fact that 9 de Julio is not a safe place to hang out because of the many low-lifers that hide in the curbs and sometimes assault cars.

Also, in some points of 9 de Julio, you cross the Avenida and pass from a 'crowded but safe' zone to a tricky area, especially around Montserrat, near Independencia subte stop, where there are drug addicts and less crowd.

My husband was disappointed that the march had bombos and all sort of stuff that appear also in populists marches. I think both main parties are socialists, but one is so more than the other. What a joke!

Oh, and my neighbors says that they are going to put paid parking in our area... is it going to be TRUE paid parking with the machines or TRUCHO paid parking with a man collecting the money?

  • my neighbor asked me if I was joining for the manifestation, again.....he also asked last time......I declined....and told I have never participated in any, anywhere in the world and don't plan to! He said they would bring beers and so on......but seriously.....don't wanna get caught with drunk with a can of beer at a demo.....just look stupid......as much as i like beer and hanging out! Imagine the images C5N and pagina12 would get in their hands.....a group of drunk capitalists pigs.....don't think it serves the case!!!!

    Regarding your parking fees:

I'm the same...... I'd prefer to just pay a parking fee and that's it!!!! The trapitos just go so on ur nerves.....

Here in tigre they asked us 700 pesos to park on street some weeks ago when we needed to park by boat club......hard to take serious or?

Earlier I was coming to San Telmo a lot and parking there.......what a relieve when they introduced paid parking.....even that I needed now to pay, I preferred that to the sketchy trapitos. And still......if you know German or Danish parking fees, u laugh about these......in Munich u pay some 6 euros, 420 pesos, street parking, in garage much more.....per hour!!!!!

We recently visited Tigre on several occasions to buy new furnitures. We had the terrible idea to go there on a Friday afternoon and the otherwise-free parking areas were all "claimed" with street cones, flipped buckets, chair by random people (I guess neighbours who decided to make living there profitable).

We parked around Plaza San Martín as it was free (as in REALLY free as it should be).

One shops in Tigre for cheap deals, not to pay hefty parking fee to self-made men AKA trapitos.

I think it is both dumb and illegal and the police ought do something instead of whatsapping. It is damaging their own business... unless people going to Tigre feel wealthy for a day popping $700 for parking alone! I'd rather have lunch out than pay for parking in Tigre.

  • I'd rather have lunch out than pay for parking in Tigre.

Who wouldn’t prefer lunch over paid parking?

Of all the areas of the northern barrios, you’d think Tigre would have plenty of free parking. Do traitors have some kind of legal basis for moving into streets and extorting drivers, who fear damage to their cars if they don’t cough up the demanded pesos?

  • think about what an earning they are making......just by 10 cars, Saturday and Sunday, nearly 60.000 pesos a month , tax free, without doing anything!!!!!

The trick is to tell them u pay when u return...no one ever there....their working hours are maybe 10-14, when people arrive......then they leave!!!!

BTW, to comparison, car park,semi-regulated in a closed carpark here charge I think 500 for a day!!!!!

Anyway I just per princip refuse to pay a dime.......and for sure not, considered you are even living here and not even a guest!

Next time you come, I suggest you park just before entering tigre......after the first roundabout on one of the side streets.... .that's 500 meters to the station and maybe 1.5 km walk to Puerto de Fritos. Also 100% safe, all camera surveillance and without robberies whatsoever. That's actually where I live and see many people coming here, doing that!!!!

  • the only positive here in tigre in regard to parking : the trapitos are mainly older guys.....so not the crack addicts u see many other places.....so I doubt they would pull out a knife or so.
