Wow. So no prosecution for treason, but still --
And will someone who understands the boundaries of her immunity please explain?

The congress have to take a vote I believe, on whether to strip her of parliamentary protection. But first they have to decide if they should take a vote.
If they vote yes, it could cause huge social upheaval.

What the judge said is that the only item to be withrawn is "treason to the country", But the rest remain: Authoritarian abuse, aggravated encovering and bothering an investigation (the hidden accord with Iran). Those are charges of the gravest sort. Now the Senatorial chamber has to decide if she could be prosecuted, and be bare of senatorial protection (Fueros, in Spanish)
Of course , this is a doubtul affair. Macri has no majority in the Senate. The poorest provinces are all peronist. Only Buenos Aires, Cordoba, Santa Fe and Mendoza are not peronist.
Be aware that here provinces has three senators, instead of two, like in the US.

Thank you for explaining . While we knew there were 3 senators from each province, we hadn’t thought about how that would further skew the math.

That depends on how many non K peronists would like to get rid from her. She is not very prestigious nowadays for many "traditional peronists" ( a less obnoxious political zoology)

How long is a senate term here? Is it possible to wait this out until she has no immunity so they can just turn up one morning and arrest her? I think there will be carnage on the streets a magnitude higher than this week before it even got to the vote.

A Senate term here is about 4 years. I agree that if she goes to prison, even with legal procedures, a new carnage could come.

It's an interesting fact that not a single Argentine president (excluding military dictators such as Videla) has served prison time as far as I know. Menem I believe, served some house arrest and what do you know, he was elected again.
