I've now reached an agreement with a qualified translator to translate the book into Spanish.
In fact, we've known each other for quite a few years and although he's Argentine, his grandfather was British and he speaks and writes English like a native. When you speak to him, you wouldn't even think he was Argentine. It's also true to say that he was originally my first choice for those very reasons, as understanding the nuances of a language is vital and we already have first drafts of chapters one and two translated and ready for editing.
I'm really looking forward to presenting the book to Argentina and other Spanish speakers, which was always my intention. Hopefully it will get noticed by the local press as well. In fact, that will be my first call.
Progress reports to follow...
Yaaaaaay! Good for you! We’ll all be hoping for good results.
Very exciting!
Great news! Congratulations! Now the fun part begins!!!

Punctuation is very different in Spanish. That much is clear so far.
Then we have usted/tu/vos and when or when not to use, not to mention poetic license.
Good grief. As a long suffering editor and nit picker, I can’t even imagine the complexity of the punctuation questions, grammar and idioms.
And once the translator is finished, yours will need to be the final word -
In Spanish it goes like this:
"Adelante", dice. "Se está volviendo bestial ahí afuera".
and..
"Por supuesto, señor Crawford, pero no estamos aquí para hablar de su futuro, ¿verdad?", Le pregunto.
Ah! I had forgotten about the added component of capitalization. I would have messed up twice on that second sentence alone.
Starting today and for one week only, the Kindle version of The Last British President is FREE to download from Amazon!
Can we circulate the link?
Can we circulate the link?
Of course! It's free globally.
It’s a very generous offer, but won’t this cut into your potential sales, Splinter?
It's a very effective way of getting the word out.
Maybe post it on local FB groups!

I'll probably try that, but you know how childish some of those groups are
Anyway, I've found another translator for the Spanish version - El Ultimo Presidente Ingles and once we've agreed terms, I hope to publish sometime in August.
If you know anyone who’s still on Igor’s forum, ask them to post it there!
Nicely volunteered!
