This naive government certainly knows how to shoot itself in the foot and has now had to double back in quick time over its plan to punish consumers for the recent devaluation of the peso. The story is that they wanted to make the consumers pay for the imported gas, the bill for which the government has to pay in the future, but since they buy it in dollars, the wanted to claw back the losses through us, the consumers.
Apparently the government changed course before they were forced to by congress and not even top ministers were aware of this plan in the first place.
