You said it!

I wish he had been MUCH clearer on the debt he met when he took office.
But I’m glad he made her look like the shrew she is, by shaming her over her remarks about his mother.

He knows it works.

I think that’s the ticket. The shop had surplus pink paint.

Matches the nail polish?

Good point , Splinter .
He will be no puppet that's for sure.
But he changes sides on a fairly regular basis within the current government setup.
He has done a decent job at stabilizing things when the dollar threatened to go through the roof. But inflation has got a lot worse.
He will be hoping for a civil war in Russia , to give him another excuse ....
Excuse for what? And how would a civil war in Russia help him? Sorry to be so dense - - I have a lot of catching up to do!

After this time away from Argentina, I see that I have a lot of catching up to do!

I didn’t remember that at all, GlasgowJohn . Thanks for filling in the back story.

Here in the US, someone merely MARRIED TO a criminal probably wouldn’t get votes. But a real first-hand criminal? If not elected, would at least use the indictment to raise money! 😱😵💫🤪

Indeed....the neverending story of Argentina.
In fairness, isn’t this (they simply want to tread water, hoping things won't get any worse, leading up to the ridiculous PASOS in August and the general election in October) the never ending story of politicians all over the world, in the run-up to elections?

Full story, please? Starting with who de Wadi’s mother is/was?

What happened with Paula Lambruschini?

Who believes her? How would she avoid prison?

A very difficult question, made worse by the IMF loan and the immense new financial obligations Argentina now has to China.
Splinter , I also take exception to Casey’s calling Argentina a “cheap” country, although I see what he’s saying is that it is inexpensive to travel to Argentina, unlike when he came in the 1980’s and it was an “expensive” country. Inartfully expressed, and callous towards people trying hard to make a living in pesos.
Do you think Casey’s ANCAP outlook, shared with Milei’s, affects his optimism about Milei’s possibilities?
-
That was interesting indeed, FScott . Because of this discussion, I am going to pay more attention to the opaque economics of Argentina and China’s investments in the country that grew tremendously during CFK’s regime.
But for the immediate future, I was surprised to hear this investment ‘guru’ say that Milei “just might win. It seems to me it is more likely that he will be a spoiler who will hand victory to CFK. But if he DID win, his ideas could profoundly change Argentina in a very positive way.

It’s a relief to have him out of the way, of course, but that raises the question…??

Although I don’t have time today, to read an 8500 word essay, Gary Kipher , I hope to get to it soon. Thanks for posting it. I certainly am aware of the shift in economic as well as political alliances.

You raise a good point, politically. I was simply talking about their atrocious haircuts.
