    It's a bit like British pubs, which have to be well worn and not, as is the latest fashion, full of mock brass, copper and TV screens.

    Whenever I walk into a faux cafe or pub trying to be something it's not, I immediately want to leave.

    Something like this hits the spot.


    Las Violetas looks too formal for me and is akin to a hotel lobby. I prefer my cafes to have loads of old stained wood, well used tables and chairs and a patina of the ages. Comfy bench seats against the walls are nice too and these are all the reasons why I will never, ever go to Starfucks.

    I'll take a cafeteria like the one in the picture any day, over the modern and soulless ones like Starbucks. You can feel the atmosphere and history oozing from the walls.

    There are so many to visit and I really like the look of Bar Britanico.
