    I remember at a dinner many years ago and asking an Argentine friend if she wanted a glass of wine, to which she replied, "Oh, no thanks, I've got diarrhoea."

    And only the other night, the youngster rose from the dinner table after clearing every morsel within sight and declared, "I think I've got diarrhoea."

    I then questioned this directness and was told that it's perfectly acceptable to use biological language like that. On the other hand, I went on to explain that we Brits at least would probably say something like, "Sorry, I've got a bad tummy." or words to that effect.
