I’ll have to hang myself.
Posts from Rice in thread „Google Ads being introduced on the forum“

Good reminder, UK Man . Thanks.
-
GlasgowJohn , do you actually prefer ads on the forum?
-
How do ads creep back in without permission? Can they be eliminated?
-
On the other hand….
-
Relieved that ads have been turned off again. But sorry that the reason is not enough traffic.
-
You probably won’t have long to wait.
-
Would it be reasonable, with about 10 active posters, to each pay in $40?
-
Approximate time frame?
And there’s a different thread for this, but when are you going to tell us what we owe, to keep the forum running, Splinter ?
-
I’ll do that.
-
I nearly always use my phone to access the forum. On the small screen, the ads are much more prominent than the posts themselves, often popping up right in the middle of a reply; less often, obliterating a post entirely. I hope the ads result in hundreds of pounds or at least dollars, as I would hate for the commercialized disruption to have all been for £2.38.

If the ads provide enough income to make the forum self-sustaining, I’m willing to put up with them. Not quite so sanguine if they just lower the per person annual cost by US $25-30. I find them quite distracting, and using Reader View doesn’t filter them out.

Unbefreakinlievable.

Very good of you, daniel ! Yes, every member who can chip out in $25-30/year helps enormously, to cover for members who can’t. But for members who can’t, that’s fine too. It all works out. And we’ll soon see if the advertising revenue could make a difference as well.
-
Splinter , by “premium platform “ do you mean providing security measures as well as not selling members’ personal information?
-
Doesn’t the forum cost around $300/year to maintain, Splinter ?
-
UK Man , please feel the daggers I’m shooting in your direction!
-
-
serafina - - EXACTLY.

Life isn’t fair, UK Man . Bummer.
