How irritating is this?
I'm watching The Last Ship which is all about a US Navy destroyer, the Nathan James, which survives a pandemic and the crew's struggle to bring a cure to the world.
Lots of action, great navy scenes, not too much American gung-ho and loads of guns.
The first two seasons were very good, but
It's a good romp staring Eric Dane and Rhona Mitra, she of Tomb Raider fame.
The Rings Of Power, which cost Amazon billions of greenbacks.
Out today on Prime with diversity being the watchword.

I wasn't sure if I'd like this, but it really is very polished with some great lines and very dry Jewish humour.
The Dissident is the horrifying story of how Jamal Khashoggi was brutally murdered at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul and how it was covered up.
Absolutely shocking.
I suffered through about 15 minutes of the first episode of Fleabag but couldn't take any more camera talking, i.e. the fourth wall when the lead talks mainly to the camera.
Neither am I prudish, but the humour was in the effing toilet and not even funny. And there's sex in it, but it's not even sexy. It's just like you left the bathroom without washing your hands.
Complete crap and I don't understand what all the fuss is about. And it's supposed to be comedy but I didn't even smirk.
Last night I watched USS Indianapolis, the warship sunk by a Japanese submarine in WW11. A tragic event made worse by the secrecy surrounding her passage to Guam and the court marshall of her captain following the rescue of survivors from the shark-infested waters off the Philippines.
At times very harrowing, especially the bizarre sight of Captain Mc Vay being hauled in front of a court marshall when the powers that be simply needed a scapegoat.
As a history lesson, I found it fascinating (apart from a few goofs) and who else could play this part so well but George C Scott? It gets a little soapy and lovey dovey in places and I have to ask why David Suchet and Gabriel Byrne, both playing Italian characters, speak with American accents? Suchet is English and Byrne is Irish!
It's definitely worth watching for the tragedy that it is and makes you wonder what would have happened if Mussolini hadn't aligned Italy with Nazi Germany.
We’re trapped in the endless Reign, set in the 16th century French Court. Only 4 seasons, but each has about 20 episodes. Stabbings, poisonings, steamy scenes, palace intrigue. I’m starting to crave something more tranquil.

Last night I watched Adrift, a true story of survival in a wrecked yacht in the Pacific Ocean which I thoroughly enjoyed. Beautifully filmed with real passion. So much so that I felt I was there in the burning sun and endless sea.
I'm watching Lorena, the woman who cut off her husband's penis. Painful to watch at times and it reveals some very interesting facts, not least that when the appendage was found by the side of the road, most of the policemen wouldn't pick it up.
There are also counter accusations of repeated violent assaults from both sides.
Brings tears to your eyes at times and not through sadness, but through imagining how it must have felt.
Watching this tonight and it looks fascinating. Just my cup of tea.
That is truly shabby, along with them starting a new series at season four, for example.

Thoroughly enjoyed Official Secrets which tells of how GCHQ employee, Katharine Gun, leaked a secret NSA memo to the press. The memo was from a US defence chief suggesting that certain UN member states should be pressured and spied upon in order to vote on the UN resolution to invade Iraq.
An unusually gritty performance from Keira Knightley and if you don't know the story, it's definitely worth waiting right until the very end.
I read most of his books many years ago, including My Family and Other Animals. Simply couldn't put that one down.
