Where I live in NM, had a lot of rain early on in the Spring. Caused a lot of mosquitos. Starting in June it became exceptionally dry and hot. Weatherwise, NM is quite nice, one reason I'm here.

Hey Rice, I live in NM. Typically, there are very few mosquitos here. I usually only see one or two a year. But this year, I've seen more than the past 8 years combined. Mosquitos love me. The feeling is not mutual.

Certainly enjoying the mosquito conversation. Didn't realize my question would spark so much response!

Sorry, just getting around to reading all the responses. Thanks for all the feedback everyone. Glad to hear things aren't as bad as they seem from when I read earlier posts. I certainly am not one seeking a cheaper way of life but that is a plus. Haven't liked the direction the U.S. has been headed for about two decades. Now essentially retired, I feel I can live most anywhere I want as a job is no longer in the cards.
I have been looking into areas of Argentina online and feel I can find a happy place in a couple places.
By the way, what is the mosquito population like? I'm sure it depends where you are.

So, I joined this site numerous weeks ago as Argentina is a place under consideration for me to move to from the U.S., permanently. I do appreciate the feedback I have received from members. After visiting several forums on this site, it makes me wonder what is the draw to Argentina? I see posts regarding high inflation, grocery stores are not very good, can't trust banks, rampant crime, corrupt/inept government officials, etc. So why do so many of you keep returning to Argentina? I see the aforementioned negatives in the U.S, right now and wondering if a move to Argentina is going to place me in the same environment. Hoping to hear that things are better in Argentina than the U.S. Thanks!

Thanks Bombonera. I fully planned on visiting for a period of time before jumping in. Joining this site was part of my research, hoping to gain insight before spending time and money with a visit. But if things are so bad there, maybe I should consider other countries on my list.

Splinter, my guess is it is a bottle or can opener of sorts.
Say, I have a general question for all you Argentine enthusiasts but not sure where to post.

I do Yoga. Not like that though. And that doesn't appear to be typical Yoga attire. Maybe it should be!

Sorry, I didn't hear any of that!

I loved the Scottish judge who said in a rape trial a few months back , " I dont care if the accused identifies as a lady , he still has a penis and he is going to a men's jail.
That's funny John!

Thanks everyone! As for weather, I prefer warmer, drier (low humidity) weather, mild winters (not a fan of cold - body doesn't handle it well). So, I was looking into Mendoza and possibly Bariloche or Salta (even though Salta is not one of the provinces I mentioned). I lived in Florida (USA) for quite some time and in my travels learned I prefer low humidity climates so I moved to the Southwestern US when I had the chance.
Mendoza and Bariloche sound quite nice in climate, scenery, and lifestyle. I am fairly active and enjoy the outdoors.
I realize Argentina is huge as it is the 8th largest country in the world and my guess is it doesn't quite have the extensive highway systems like the US or European countries.
And John, you look like you could pass as Sean Connery!

Thanks bebopalula. That was my intent. Still would be nice to receive input from those living the areas I mentioned.

Thanks Serfina.
Can anyone provide some insight as to good places to live in Argentia? I've been doing some research but would like to receive input from people actually living there. I'm more of a weather guy and not really into city life. Outskirts of a city are fine. Was thinking more like the provinces of Cordoba, San Luis, Mendoza, La Pampa, or Rio Negro.

Thanks John. That is helpful and good to know!

Wow! Makes it tough to live there on a fixed income.
Argentina is on my radar as a possible place to live during retirement. Didn't realize inflation was so high. Where are the best places to live in Argentina if you are from the US?

So, is the inflation really that bad in Arg?
