That sounds like an interesting space, serafina . We’ll have to try it!

Definitely!

UK Man , that’s the $64,000 question!
-
UK Man - - high class problems.

Not my cup of tea either. But tell me, Splinter , why is MILF Manor a 68% match for your viewing habits?!

I do remember recommending The New Brighton, on Sarmiento. Since then, we’ve been there a couple of times and enjoyed delicious meals in elegant surroundings. I hope they will be able to stay in business during these difficult days.
For pizza, have you tried El Cuartito? I think you’d like the pizza as well as the atmosphere.
We rarely go into microcentro, so right now I am not able to think of other recommendations. The other places we always enjoyed closed during Covid.

Sorry, Splinter , but it’s hard to keep a straight face when your post is minimized by a giant ad with instructions to “Tap to Jiggle.”

Good Lord, serafina - - I hope the phone service provider situation turns out to be legitimate, not another scam.

serafina !!! Quit beating yourself! You are ANYTHING but dumb, and you copped onto the scam so early that they didn’t get any more money out of you than the original ”deposit,” which absolutely anyone would have paid, because those are the rules of local sales via internet.
You are probably the first person with enough experience and common sense to have realized what was happening, and to have stopped it. Moreover, you’re going to get the “deposit” back, and you’ve undoubtedly contributed to the apprehension of these criminals. Start patting yourself on the back for what you’ve done! I’m proud of you!

You were just waiting to drop Gerry and the Pacemakers into your trip plans, weren’t you?

I deplore self-serving and deceptive politicians, but it is simplistic to tar all politicians with the same brush. Just as none of us would want to be condemned with “all expats are scheming scammers,” we owe it to ourselves and others to judge politicians by their individual acts.
Every US presidential election is a two-horse race. Sometimes that means we need to look at two candidates and decide which we think is better for the country; sometimes it means we need to vote for the one we consider will be less harmful. In either case, we must make a decision instead of avoiding our responsibility to decide by declaring both candidates unworthy.
Splinter , Bradley, Woodward, & Bernstein remain American heroes, as do John McCain and John Dean. Who will be the heroes in the history of the 2006 Insurrection?

Yes. And it’s too bad he and they don’t also consider themselves able to spread their wings and fly.
-
Thanks, sts ! I completely missed that and now will read the recipe and plan on making this bread!
-
How awful, serafina . I’m so terribly sorry that these people took advantage of your good nature. They sound like very professional scammers, so DO NOT beat yourself up. Your own experience at selling items completely predisposed you to understand their request for a deposit. But your excellent instincts kicked in when they suddenly demanded more money. You’re my hero!

Good point. I don’t go out of my way to buy organic. Regular supermarket flour starts at around $3 per 5-lb bag, so really, I’d guess supermarket flour is still less expensive than in the US.

This gift editorial provides both historical context and a blunt evaluation of the state of the US system of government today.
I suggest choosing “reader view” to eliminate the distraction of all the ads.

This is something that NO ONE needs, but Argentina least of all.
-
From your list, aficionado , I see that flour in Argentina now costs more than in the US. That has to be really hard on families, especially after the price control on bread has been lifted.

His supporters certainly have not shown up outside the courthouse. Is he losing his hold on them?
