Have you tried a different browser and/or device. You are still "registered" there but I am not sure they display if someone is banned.

I wonder if they know you also post here so are blocking you purely out of spite. Either way, childish feckers.

I actually have an interest in this and I highly reccomend the book "Big Bang" by Simon Singh. It describes the birth and history of physics and in turn astrophysics in a storytelling manner and as the name suggests culminates with the discovery of the Big Bang. For want of a better description, it is an idiot's guide to the subject. I have read it at least five times.

To answer the question, it remains one of the things that calls into question the concept of the Big Bang. It's an endless game of "so, what came before." If the universe came from surroundings of hot dense gases reaching into infinity, is the universe still within that mass and if so, that suggests more universes likely exploded from within it. As that mass is possibly infinite, all possibilities are also infinite, which means our exact universe has already happened an infinite number of times.

Infinity and nothingness are things humans cannot comprehend, hence our need to create religons. For what it's worth, I believe in god but also the Big Bang.

Interesting, but if you head to websites like zonaprop, you can see the jump when you add more bedrooms/ambientes. For example, for a three bedroom apartment or house you're looking at between 70,000 to 100,000. If you find something lower than that it is usually old and/or small. Still, if you happen to be single in Buenos Aires with a job, finding a place to live right now is manageable. I even mean for people working in pesos here. A decent monoambiente is around 20,000.

What possible reason would a harmless post like that need to be moderated?

It seems now any post you make is being moderated. Just bizzare because I have never seen you make any post on that forum that would be deemed offensive. Obviously you were discussing topics they don't want to see there, even though all your topics and posts were reasonable. I would say if they don't greenlight your post above you are as good as banned.

I have days like you. I posted some negative comments on the other place aimed at the twats who think everything here is wonderful all because they earn in dollars. I suggested they stop giving the wrong impression as not every expat here earns in dollars. I think that's when my posts started to be moderated and deleted.

I earn in dollars and I find myself prefacing almost everything I say about the economy here with "I understand life is very different here for non-dollar earners".

On the other forum, it's interesting that people who are negative about Argentina are shouted down. I have tried on many occasions to say how the crime here is a problem and there are some on that forum who just won't have it. They throw up comparisons to Mexico City or Rio. It's a similar story if you are just complaining about minor issues, such as availability of products or terrible service. According to them there's always somewhere worse... it reminds of Argentine people themselves actually, never accepting the issues and facing up to them.

I will say the negatives of living here outweight the positives from a purely material viewpoint, but my wife and family are here so that makes up for it. However, I do not pretend that Argentina is some utopia like they do over on that forum.

If you come to Palermo Soho at night, most people hanging out at cafes/restaurants/beer places do not wear a mask (indoor or outdoor).

I don't think people have to wear a mask in these situations, do they?

I slip the mask too if I am walking a block and I am the only one on it, I take the mask down and put it back if I see someone coming.

Same as your feathers didn't get ruffled , i'm not offended or took this personally, i was just stating that as much as we don't care about what people think of our opinions, this will affect you, and sometimes it can be taken into the legal field, and that is what i meant by walking on eggshells.

My experience in argentina is less than stellar with numerous situations that complicated my life quite a bit and no, i can't just leave as i have certain compromises that make it impossible at this point.

Maybe i didn't express myself clearly but i dislike this country with a passion and most of the people in it too and also the way they do things here i just flat out hate it.

But not only that, you have to be careful how you voice your opinion because even in forums like this, some of that ''culture'' filters in .

No charges were filed against me on the other forum but it was kindly mentioned by the doktor at one point long ago.

I think most of us have a gripe about Argentina. I don't hate it as you do, but can easily see why one might hate this country.

I am not sure your particular thing with Bajo. However, he is a famous tool who is barely liked by anyone. An absolute moron who has thousands of posts and perhaps only a dozen of them are any good. He also has at best a middling reputation regarding his job, despite pretending he is the elite lawyer of Argentina.

Can I ask why you are in Argentina if you hate it here? That must be miserable being somewhere you actively cannot stand.

LOL this is spiraling out of control quick, he said, i said, then he said.

Ok tough man, we got the point you don't get offended or give a shit what people think of your opinions.

What some of us , not as tough as you, take into account is that your ''sound beliefs" can and will be challenged to the point of people trying to get you deported in some cases.

And no, i don't feel uncomfortable , i know where i stand and why i stand there, except when in argentina you have to mind your principals as sound as they are , that can be enough for someone to press charges against you.

Look mate, you get offended and personal too easily. It has nothing to do with being tough, and that's quite a surprising thing to say as it has literally nothing to do with the discussion and no-one has mentioned it. I don't know, it seems you are conflating an experience you have had in Argentina with an internet forum with about 10 people on it who happen to be in Argentina. Or do you mean someone pressed charges against you/tried to get you deported on the other forum or here?

I'm not so sure about that...even I might have crossed the line now and again.^^

At the end of the day it is only a bleedin' internet forum of strangers. We do tend to converse differently when not face to face.

This is my whole point, made much more effective by you.

I don't think you've crossed the line and offended anyone here. Speaking personally, those I disagree with on issues have not offended me one bit. I think on the other forum people think disagreement means they should be offended. Bloody hell, the whole world is going that way in fact.

In Capital I don't see anybody not wearing a mask. People in CABA are definately still sticking to this, also in surrounding Provincia barrios such as San Isidro, Tres de Febrero, Moreno, and others I frequent. It seems in the populated areas people are continuing to follow the wearing mask rules. If UK Man and Mckenna are located in less populated areas, then maybe people are thinking what's the point in those more rural settings.

I spend a decent amount of time out in the nights and it's almost business as usual. In fact, I also see everything mostly back to normal. I am trying to think of something that is really different and cannot think of anything beyond sometimes needing to line up outside stores.

Over the last weeks I have been out on a couple of nights out, a couple of meals, and a few trips to the center for shopping. No different to any other Janauary.

It would seem some of your feathers have been ruffled judging by the tone of your reply. :)

Really, what in my post would suggest my feathers were ruffled? Being able to state my opinion in the words I choose perhaps? I am not the one saying I feel "uncomfortable" or am "walking on eggshells" around a bunch of people on an internet forum. I can safely say I have never had my feathers ruffled on any public forum. McKenna is going on about feeling those things and I just think to myself "why does he care?" What's the worst can happen, he is banned or called out on his opinions. I think if his beliefs are sound, what's the problem, even if they are different to someone else's? There are two problems on most forums... people who get offended by what others post and then the poster getting offended because someone is offended at them.

Over on the other forum, there are a lot of the former, but reading some of the stuff here it seems there are also some of the latter. We had it happen here with Jan, where he would say some stuff that offended people. They called him out on it, not even in offense, just stating their own view. He then got offended and left. I have found this forum to be largely free of people taking outright offence at what is being posted but it seems some people are really saying "don't challenge my opinion because it makes me uncomfortable".

I'd prefer nothing at all, but these vigilantes seem to be a deterrent and there's a lot of paranoia due to break-ins and other crimes.

Are the pavements outside residents' houses public or private? I really don't know.

Not that much of a deterrent if there have been break-ins and other crimes... or did you mean in general?

Realistically, in what position would the man in the hut be in to stop any crime? It's funny because criminals must think you have a legit security guard in the hut when in fact you have a lazy feck who would probably do nothing if he saw something happening. Bobocop.

Sometimes staying in a forum for a long spell can become boring, same questions keep popping up from new members , but what i have noticed lately is how polarized some have become, even this forum.

So i do agree that over time a group of regulars is formed who might be lined up on their political views and or other views in life in general, making the experience a little less than comfortable for others.

I do not defend or condemn any group or forum as there's no obligation for anyone to stay if you don't feel heard or represented. i also have noticed certain political bias in some of them , after all, it's just a forum , maybe i'm too old to be affected by what people think of me about my views in this context.

Everyone has their political biases, you included. I don't see a need to get precious about it, state your opinion and move on to the next topic. I don't get offended by someone with different beliefs to me unless those beliefs are evil and/or criminal. I also don't care if I am heard or represented. I engage in the topics I want and ignore the ones I don't, it's that simple for me. I don't understand someone feeling uncomfortable unless someone is directly calling you out or harrassing you. Some people have too soft a skin these days.

I don't spend much time on forums, but do on Reddit.

Regarding the other forum, as I said, it has been open long enough that it clearly has a lot of information. For a newcomer to Argentine, that's why that forum attracts them. If you already know most the information all it's good for is an argument. As I like an argument, I post there sometimes. That said, I think my post count here is going to surpass my post count there soon, in much less time. Sometimes I like to roll around in the mud with the pigs, so engage over there.

Luckily I have not encountered any of the issues but obviously there's something fishy going on there. Bajo, for example, seems to have some power behind the scenes. I don't know how Ben gets away with sparring and mostly beating Bajo, but to me it's clear Bajo is involved there. It wouldn't surprise me if the forum is influenced politically (i.e., the K's). Sounds far fetched but who knows, I have always been convined Bajo is there specifically to stir the pot and not for his own personal fun.

Longevity must play a part. That forum has been around a while.

If you are an expat here and you find that forum, you will see many members and that it is relatively active. Most people start on that forum with a question about living in Argentina and then they just stick around. It makes sense to ask your question on a forum that seems more active. Maybe a sticky or wiki thread here explaining the ins and outs of life in Argentina covering some common questions may give people who visit more reason to stay. Of course, this would depend on whether the general traffic shows people come and go.

The reading of PMs is a nasty business. I never PM so it does not bother me really but it makes even having PMs pointless.

Never has one of my posts been moderated. I am not wildly controversial but have gotten into some debates there.

What did you post UK_Man, I guess that's the real question. However, unless it was cleary wrong or offensive, I think you've been hard done by. Some people get away with positing crap and controversial stuff without a problem.

    So, are you banned?
