I have been watching quite a few movies lately - primarily the older Western movies.
By "older", I mean those movies made during the 50's and 60's. There are a few made after 1970 that are fairly good;
However the movies before that date were done almost 100 percent on location; this is, sadly, something that is almost never done anymore
with any type of movie.
There are several "Western Movies" that really are worth watching - and one of them is San Antonio.
The dance scenes by the "girls" (and the songs sung) are one of the reasons this movie is so great - but also because the acting is top notch
and the script is well written (but in many modern movies, sadly lacking with lines of dialog that are not only sharp and entertaining, but which
the grammar used is correct).
Take a look sometime ...... at this particular western movie ..... and others.
So many people seem to have the idea in their mind that "westerns" are just so much "shooting and killing" - and nothing else.
Nothing could be further from the truth.
The older western movies show (illustrate) a real part of what the United States used to be - from several standpoints:
***Beautiful country-side scenes (many which are long gone now).
***Movies that show-case some unknown and important facts about the U.S. Military in its early years.
***Formation of the railroads - and showing how they played an important part in the building and structuring of the U.S.
