According to Clarin, lettuce has shot up in price to $90/Kg due to the weather. I've got nothing to compare this to because most other countries price their lettuces per unit and it takes a lot of green leaves to make up one kilo. In the UK a lettuce is about 0.50p apparently.
Lettuce is now AR$90 per kilo!

I like buying produce per unit, but have become accustomed to Argentina’s system, per kilo (same in Hawaíi, btw). A few months ago, lettuce in Palermo was anywhere from 50 down to 30 pesos per kilo. But that was when it was in season.

I went today to Coto Supermarket and I found the lettuce at AR$ 39,50 per kilogram.
Some fake news often appears and the situation seems to be worse that it really is, especially in Facebook and other media.

Just got back to Texas from Argentina. Checked iceberg lettuce: $US1.00 for a 1.5 lb head. That’s equivalent to about $AR 32.
Carlos is right - lots of fake news, even in the world of lettuce.
Clarification: I think you knew, but that's $AR32 per kilo.

There are many journalists who whishes to destroy the fading prestige of this government adding fake news, as catastrophic news are much profitable than the normal ones.
I am convinced that this government did many mistakes: the first one, that of not informing the people about the disastrous left by CFK and her gang. But anyway this is preferable that the former one, which hid the real information of the INDEC statistiscs who were internationally praised befor its sudden internvention by CFK and Moreno.

But I found this in Clarin and they never lie do they?

Perhaps to lie is not and official policy of Clarin. Perhaps some young journalist put that fake new
relying only in a casual comment of a friend. You know, control is always lax in this country.
By the way, I have just come from Carrefour and Sirloin steak beef, per kilo, is AR$ 230.- Almost 10 dollars per kg. It seems not too high. (U$s 5.- per pound.

There's always Kale of course, but I've never tried it.

No one has actually ever eaten kale. To talk about it is a mark of distinction for some, and extra points are awarded for mentioning tofu in the same sentence, but kale is basically inedible. I have it on good authority that it's not even organic: it's made from shredded automobile tires.

Sirloin can be found on sale for $US5/lb, but normal prices are higher, in the range of $8-10.

Some even say you can extract Kale from an ATM using a Chase card in Colonia, with no surcharges.

A tourist in Punta del Este reports that kale was flying out of the slot machines in the casino.
