RE: Mattress matters
I have ICBC in Argentina - I can see they offer cuenta corrientes (checking) and cuenta de ahorro (savings). Would the brokerage fall under Investments?

No, all the banks who offer brokerage type financial instruments, such as fondos or cedars, are not brokerage accounts. Argentine brokers are licensed with ALyC (Agente de Liquidación y Compensación), that banks do not have. I have no real idea, but I suspect some banks have their own separate arm of the business with a license or another way they can provide those investment instruments. Most likely with higher fees and less experience.
A few years ago when I read about all the newer retail brokerages in Argentina it reminded me of Charles Schwab, Fidelity, and other popular retail brokers in the US. Places catering to small investors with less knowledge plus others who are advanced with more needs. As well as easy research and buy/sell trading online without delays. The ones that I still consider are Cocos Capital, Balanz Capital, Eco Valores, Bull Market Brokers (BMB), InvertirOnline (IOL), and PPI (Portfolio Personal Inversiones). I am sure there are more.
My thoughts were to invest in Argentina companies in a similar way that I have done in US. Holding index tracking funds, and other more managed funds. Those do not need much of my attention after purchase. That methodology is similar to how I research ways to invest in Argentina.
