Just saw it on the BBC website. Even I could recognise his works when I saw them.

His conviction that art is, and should be, a communal experience, seemed to be his guiding light, from his earlier rejection of photography to his more recent rejection of virtual reality. Yet his embrace of most technological innovation kept his art evolving and fresh.
But my favorites are still “A Bigger Splash” and other early pop art paintings. In the 1990’s, a friend of mine hired a local artist to paint a large Hockney-style painting on the wall by her swimming pool. I love the memory of swimming under that knockoff Hockney splash.

I rather enjoy modern art, although my knowledge and comprehension of the art subject is very basic.
However, in general, I like those bold colors and lines and provoking designs and patterns. In an era where we have cameras, videos and AI, painting to emulate reality seems plain and dull, whereas modern art enhance feelings and emotions and depicts the world as we can feel it rather than as we can see it.
Between a museum of fine arts and one of modern art, I'd definitely got to the latter and skip the first.
In Argentina, I like Marta Minujín's work.
