My older brother David and wife Gill confirmed to us yesterday they've booked a cruise which will depart from Buenos Aires next February. They'll arrive in BA 8 days before the ship departs as they want to go on a side trip to Iguazu falls. As it's too much hassle for them to come and see us here we'll meet up with them in the capital for a few days. They've been looking at hotels and narrowed it down to two, both in the Florida district. After doing some Google Mapping I see their favourite choice is only a leisurely 20 minute walk from our place in Av Uruguay which is a plus. So while they do the tourist stuff during the day we can join them in the evening. Gill says she wants to experience an asado while in BA and wants us all to go for one. Must admit my reply didn't come across as being very enthusiastic about the idea. Mostly because I know sod all about where would be best to go for one without being ripped off.

At least we have plenty of time to sort it all out before they arrive.

Many thanks GJ. Only a 10 minute taxi ride away as well so ideal. :thumbup:It's not full of annoying tourists is it? ^^

It is a bit of a mix as it gets good reviews all over the place, but the food is great.

It's the best steak i have eaten in this country!

The waiters are great, and Hugo, the owner, is a character.

You can reserve a table up until a certain time; then it's by order of arrival .

But Hugo has pulled me out of the queue a couple of times and told me to come in as the rest of my party was already there.....

Sounds even better. I've sent the La Brigada Instagram link on to them which shows it all. It should get them drooling.

I like La Brigada too. Though the football decor is lost on me, the meat is delicious. And your brother and SIL will undoubtedly want to see San Telmo.

I’m partial to Don Julio in Palermo, despite its discovery by tourists. Same with La Cabrera, which btw has Happy Hour prices on all food & drinks at 7 pm, a significant discount, since their prices have really increased n recent years.

    I find Don Julio overpriced

Yes, it's good, but I find La Beigada better value all round

It’s the football decor. And perhaps because of your preferential treatment?

Seriously, has La Brigada not raised their prices to the stratosphere like the other top-tier places? If not, that’s good news.

I hope not as we'll be paying the bill. :D To be honest I don't mind paying extra as long as it's good.

I reckon that La Brigada is about 40% cheaper than Don Julio , maybe more

These are the prices of a parrilla near where I live in Palermo. On weekends and at night, there is always a crowd (inside and outside). I only had lunch there once, and it was a fixed price menu. I wasn't impressed with the meat. Either they will save the best cuts for those paying regular prices, or it is a cheaper than average steak house. They are a popular parrilla from Boedo (if I recall right) and this is the new Palermo branch.

I just go there to buy fried meat empanadas, which are good and cheaper than at empanadas places. Just $2400 each, and you get 10% off if paying cash or by QR code with Mercadopago. I spent $6500 for 3x and I fixed my lunch today.

Fried empanadas are a rarity, for some reason! Perhaps they do it because, as a restaurant, they also fry potatoes (fries/chips) so they have hot oil in the fryer non-stop. Still, I can't understand why a portion of fries is 14.000. They must be in high demand, as potatoes are very cheap to buy.
