In Hereford they have just opened a third padel court in what is said to be the fastest growing sport in the world. I know it's popular here.

Why are padel courts springing up in Herefordshire? | Hereford Times

For some reason I have to use a VPN to read the Hereford Times. Anyone else have that problem?

    ''The request is blocked.''

It's a popular sport here as well with several courts around town. I had to ask the missus what it is.

A friend of a friend is absolutely nut about it. He arrived at 31/12 dinner straight from the padel court (and dressed as a player). Every time I have met him, he was dressed like he had just finished a match.

Last time, I became curious and he told me he plays every day and even travels around the world to play here and there. He went to California and Dubai just to play padel with his friends.

There is a sort of ranking (like in tennis, more or less) but most people are classified by level. He told me his number with much pride, but I have completely forgotten about it. I suppose it was a 4.

In Italy, a friend of a friend decided to open a padel court with her husband. They have 9 fields! From our STR in Palermo Hollywood, we can see an indoor padel court. It is never empty.

Yes that was my understanding. I wondered about its popularity when I first arrived here. The answer was always that it started in Mexico and then Argentina and Spain. More recent years growing everywhere else.
