Let's not forget that March 23-24 are public holidays. And so are April 2-3 on the following week.

It is really hard to "mask" these holidays to my US clients. How can you explain that it is Christmas 6 times a year, where I live? I have to ship some documents to the US, and because of the holidays, they won't leave before Wednesday night. This means that they will be delivered in the US next Friday, i.e. one lost week for me. I hope it won't constitute a problem for my client.

Yes, 16 mandatory and 3 optional.

According to Claude, there are also 4 consecutive days:

    • February 16 & 17 — Carnaval
    • March 23 & 24 — bridge day + Día de la Memoria
    • April 2 & 3 — Día de Malvinas + Viernes Santo
    • December 7 & 8 — bridge day + Inmaculada Concepción

Then, let's not forget the Día del... which could constitute another holiday (bank, businesses, specific professions)

We don't have classes on Students' Day nor on Teachers' Day, for example.

Just to provide an idea of how much these holidays can affect economy:

On March 16, I started Year 2 in my second University program (online only). First week it is to familiarize with the platform - no classes and no homework. Week 2 - it starts with two public holidays. Week 3 - it ends with 2 holidays. So, in half a month we had 4 days of classes. The academic year lasts 7 months (March to November, with Winter holidays in July).

“Winter hours” meaning shorter hours, I assume?

it depends on the town but in some places they open at 08.00 in the summer instead of 10.00.

In Escobar they open at 10.00 all year round.

As GJ says it's the opening times for the nuisance customers that change. Here it's 8am till 1pm summer hours and 10am till 3pm winter hours. I assume the amount of hours the bank workers sit about for stays the same though. All the banks here have the same opening hours.

Apart from schools, banks and government offices being closed today it's business as usual for most other workers. I guess the K's didn't care about the ''most other workers''.

Milei said it's an optional holiday and no need for employees to pay double time to the employees who work today.

DHL is closed, the seal store is closed and that's all what matters to me.

On a bright note, it was a breeze to drive through the city and go to Patio Bullrich to purchase my Italian ravioli and sauce. Since at Disco they are usually a miss more than a hit, I googled them and found out that they are also sold at Bon Marché, a store within the fancy Patio Bullrich, where I had never been in my life. And since they were on offer, they were even cheaper than at Disco and with more variety! What a find!

The prices weren't outrageous. They were the same price as in Italy, and most of the stuff was the same price (or less) than premium local brands. The products on sale can be even cheaper than in Europe.

Of course, there are pricier imported goods such as caviar, chocolate, dressings etc. There was also an interesting selection of imported beer, and the Guinness premium was 30% off on the 6x pack plus a branded glass (pint) for 45,000 ARS.

They have a website and an online store, but they were experiencing technical issues with online payment today, which is why I went in person. I am glad I did, because some of the ravioli have an expiration date of 4/19 and some 6/20.

Overall, I'd say to keep an eye on their offers as you may be lucky!

I got my Guinness glasses for nowt last year. The hotel we were staying at had a pub attached to it. So I'd order a pint take it back to the hotel room and forget to take it back.

I guess we should determine if the stay and the pint came at more or less than 45,000 ARS, at this point!

IIRC a pint of Guinness cost me £5 with the free pint branded glass.

That is what I read as well. The memorial holiday is the 24th every year. Tomorrow. The current administration decided to make Monday an optional bridge holiday to give the four day weekend.

Also, ten years later on March 24th 1986, Argentina was the first Latin American country to ever win the Foreign Language Academy Award. The movie plot is set during the final year of the military dictatorship.

German dinner is served - German mustard and German pickles.

The kitkats were a tribute to UK Man . Is $1200 a good price? I bought them only because they were on offer.

That was a great price, you should have splashed out and got more.

We were in Dia today and they had KitKats on a 3for2 offer so I bought six as my stock was running low. That worked out at 1600 each. The normal price however is a complete rip off.
