May be a sign of the age to make a post about vacuum cleaners, but here it is:

We bought an ATMA vacuum cleaner for the STR less than 2 years ago. It is 2000 W but its suction power has decreased dramatically, despite my husband having cleaned the filter regularly during these years. Since it is still on sale for 150,000 ARS, I am pondering whether it is worth a shot at fixing vs. buying a new one for 100,000 (I think this Yelmo or Ultracomb, which are identical and made in China)

We don't know if it is due to misuse from the guests or if we aren't cleaning something that is not so intuitive to be cleaned, or else.

It started overheating a couple of months ago, but after cooling down it was working okay. We never used it to the full power except to clean the carpet. However, last week it wasn't suctioning much, even at max power. Any advice is appreciated.

We've had a Samsung one similar to this one for over two years and it's still working fine. You may find that repairing it will cost more than a new one.

Ours is a Stihl. I've never used it so have no idea what it's like.

    Here's some AI tips though.

Signs of a Full Bag or Container:

    • Reduced Suction: The vacuum fails to pick up dirt, leaving debris behind.
    • Higher-Pitched Noise: The motor sounds strained or "whiny" because it is struggling to pull air through the blockage.
    • Overheating: The unit feels hot to the touch or shuts off unexpectedly.
    • Odors: A musty or dirty smell is emitted while in use.
    • Indicator Light: Many models have a "bag full" indicator light or gauge.

    Steps to Restore Suction:

    1. Empty or Replace Immediately: For bagless, empty the canister and wipe it out. For bagged, replace the bag once it is roughly 2/3 full, even if it does not look completely full.
    2. Clean the Filters: A full container often leads to clogged filters. Clean or wash the pre-motor and post-motor/HEPA filters (allow to dry for 24 hours).
    3. Check for Clogs: A full container can cause debris to back up into the hose, wand, or floor head. Check these areas for blockages using a blunt object like a broom handle.
    4. Inspect Seals: Ensure the container or bag is properly sealed and locked into place.
