    Hello everybody,

Well the time has just flashed past, only 2 week ends left to go.

For several reasons I am abandoning the Uruguay project.... principally because the officials forgot to stamp my passport when I arrived, and so I do not fancy having border problems...... to be fair, I was whizzed through Inmigracion in nothing flat!!

Anyway, I have been with the family, growing up nicely, various friends and sabado asados.

I spent the sunset watching the flocks of birds returning to the jungle, the parrots squabbling in the treetops, and the toucans on the lookout for eggs...

We had a storm last week and so there has been a rain of clementines from the trees in the garden.

I am so used to having palta 'avocado' every day, that I will have withdrawal symptoms in my Lidl supermarket at home.

After much consideration, I think that I prefer Brahma to Quilmes as my regular lager, with Patagonia IPA as an evening treat.

I have had excellent medical care, even going privately to the dentist was very reasonable.

This weekend will be a shopping trip to the big town for souvenirs, presents for the kids, delicatessen stuff from the German shop, followed by a restaurant .

    Hasta pronto...

    Hello Sarran,

Argentina stopped stamping passports in 2022, shortly after the pandemic. Nothing to fear if you'd like to cross the river and see what's there in Uruguay!

I love that description of Misiones. I still have fond memories of my solo travel up there when international tourism was not allowed and it was just me and a few bravehearts exploring the province.

Aah, thank you for the information, but I have booked my transport.

As I am not having much difficulty with my stoma pouches, I have decided to take the overnight 'executivo' bus from Alem to Retiro, and a tourist taxi to have a morning out in BA.

The flights from Posadas do not tie in well with my flight time to Europe, also Aerolinas Argentinas is 3 times the price of the bus.

    Cordialement,

Hi, So it is mid morning here, Matilda is at morning school ,Alena and James will be ready for an hour's time. The weather is cooler, with thin cloud, ideal for sitting in the garden with a cold orange soda enjoying the view and bird song. There are parrot type birds on the lawn, pecking at a couple of fallen avocados. Behind the neighbours wall there it a 'picaflore' bush with red flowers... a favorite spot for the humming birds

Less than 2 weeks to go... I have done all the return voyage shopping... maté teabags, fridge magnets, tobacco and so on. As I am managing my pouches ok, I have decided to take the overnight coach to Buenos Aires, frankly more convenient than flying.

I arrived with my suitcase full with medical stuff, now mostly consumed (Shirley will pass on any surplus to the hospital), so now I can stuff my case with goodies, and maybe get some postcards at the airport. I will have most of the day free in BA, so I'm hoping to take a tourist taxi around town, then use the lounge facilities there with my card, followed by my evening flight.

    Hasta Pronto!!

    Hello everybody,

Well, I made it back home without any real difficulties.

I took the Singer executivo night coach to Retiro from N Alem rather than Posadas, much more convenient and cheaper than flying. The bus left on time, but was 2 hours late into Retiro, caused I think by the very heavy traffic. Retiro bus station and it's surroundings has been vastly improved and cleaned up.

Wheelchair assist at Ezieza was great, where my 'driver' took me from check-in to the travel lounge, where I had a deluxe shower and an excellent buffet with sensible seating. Then wheeled to the end of the air ramp at the plane. I flew economy in the Lufthansa centenary celebration 747-8, with an aisle seat at the wing. Very good.

As there is always the unexpected, there was a delay taking off from Munich, such that my train link Toulouse to Brive was lost. However I had taken a Bla-Bla bus ticket in advance as a precaution, so that arriving at 7pm, 40 minutes after my train, but 90 mins before my bus, I crossed the wide bridge 500 metres to the brasserie Bristol and had saucisse de Toulouse with an excellent draught Guinness. The first pint did not even touch the sides!!

So, back home into the French Spring, my house and chattels are well, my neighbour's son has cut the grass, other wise it would be 2 feet tall. It has been mild, so the blossoms have flowered well on the fruit trees, but it needs just 10 minutes of hailstorm to strip them. I have been tidying the terrace, with fresh Summer plants in the planters.

May is great fun here, with bank holidays with lots of events, mopeds and VWs for me....

Glad to hear you are safely and comfortably back home after another good visit with your family in Argentina, Sarran1955 . You are an inveterate planner and a very patient traveler. The success of this solo trip suggests that it will not be the last. Kudos to you!
