The Winter Olympic Games have begun, bringing with them memories of superlative achievements of past Olympics.

Who can ever forget this outstanding (“life changing”) moment from the 2006 Olympics as France’s Yannik Bertrand achieved his 15 minutes of fame?

    I can't see it either.

I am reading post on the Winter Olympic games on FB, since they are held in Italy. However, it is hard to feel engaged/connected with winter sports when here it is full summer. Seems like a movie from the past and far far away!

Used to watch all the big sporting events on TV in the UK. Since coming to live here I never watch any of them.

Here’s another source for the same event in the 2006 Olympics —

    I've never understood curling

We still don't know why curling stones move the way they do
The icy ballet of stone upon ice makes curling one of the most intriguing sports of the Winter Olympics. But scientists still haven't quite figured out the…

Not only does nobody understand why curling stones move the way they do, but nobody understands the appeal of the sport!

The Scots do as we invented the sport. Instead of the stones it used to be played with whisky bottles during clan gatherings on frozen lochs. ;)

I've known a few scrubbers in my time. The only thing they curled was their hair.

serafina , is this a common household cheese for your family? It makes me want to go to Italy just for the cheese. The power of Olympics branding!

Oh yes! It is like coffee, it is always available in an Italian family fridge!
I am sure you can find it also in the US, as they export it worldwide. Even here in Argentina they are importing small 100 g pieces of Parmigiano, Grana and Pecorino. They should be around 10 USD at jumbo and disco.

It is also something delicious to snack on while cooking.

I’ll look for it. Especially for snacking on while cooking!
