Here are some recent stories coming out of Argentina:

Two Argentines are still being held prisoner in Venezuela, but hopes are high that they will be released imminently, especially since around 20 foreigners have now been set free.

Mauricio Macri and Juilana Awada have confirmed their separation after 15 years of marriage.

In Uruguay an Argentine woman didn't like someone beeping their horn at her, so she got out of the car and threatened the other driver with a baseball bat. Turn out that she has around AR$10m of outstanding motoring offences to pay in Arg.

The Golden Globes took place last night and nobody cared.

My missus had several parking fines to pay. She went to the office to apologise and explain why she hadn't paid. The chap said ''don't worry about it I've cancelled them all''. ^^

I knew they existed but haven't a clue what they're for.

The globes is always a decent preview and prediction to the Academy Awards. I would never waste time watching award shows, but I do quickly read the winners and the nominees. If not I would never know what to plan to watch. e.g. I never heard of if I had legs I’d kick you until today, and now it is on my list. 2) even more reason to watch Marty Supreme which has been on the list, but since Argentina does not get real movies in the theater during of Xmas NYE holidays, we are all still waiting. 3) confirms that watching One battle after another was a good choice.

It's the nauseating speeches that I can't stand or as Ricky Gervais said at one event "Collect you little prize and fuck off!"

Fascinating article about Madonna when Evita, directed by Alan Parker, was shot here in Buenos Aires. She wasn't popular by all accounts.

Madonna en la Argentina: juego de seducción con Menem y un permiso especial para usar el balcón de la Rosada
Hace 30 años, la reina del pop llegó al país para filmar una versión de la comedia musical basada en la vida de Eva Perón. Hubo disturbios, grafitis, amenazas…

Here's the front page of La Nacion from September 2022, a year before Milei was elected president. How things have changed, but many things have stayed the same.

USGS database entry: bee cute furry face, m, argentina, side

Unknown Hairyeye Bee, collected in Argentina. What an attractive bee, unfortunately, that is about all we can say about this species other than it is found in the western temperate regions of South America.
