Given the shady pricing practices carried out by retailers here I guess not or they get paid for doing sod all.

For instance while browsing the Vea website this morning I clicked on the link that was advertising 2for1 offers on beer and snacks. Not one beer was on offer and the best offer on any snack was 80% off the second item. :scratchead:

I very much doubt it, although there is a consumers rights organisation in most towns.

This sounds like a bug in their website, which could be anything or everything from poor system design to poor quality control. A different department, so not necessarily deceptive marketing or sales practices.

Yes consumer defense in Argentina is often a helpful resource.

Bit of both I think. It used to be very reliable but over the last year it seems to have suffered reliability problems. For some reason over the last couple of months when I go to pay for my shopping it says I have to pay for it instore. Having said that the store itself has gone downhill over recent years so it could be the fault of the branch. The store doesn't seem to have anyone in charge anymore. The checkout girls take turns at being the boss.

Vea is part of the large Chile based corporation, Cencosud. In the Argentina supermarket genre they own Jumbo, Disco, and Vea which to me always look to have identical user web interfaces. Almost all the same products when comparing the three online. I agree the local shopping experience is more varied and quality is quite different between those 3 brands. Probably some Vea and Disco locations have legacy standards that still exist from before they were acquired.

The Vea here originally opened as a Disco then changed to Vea several months later which I always thought strange. It had a manager then he disappeared and was never replaced. It's very rarely busy so I'm surprised it's stayed open to be honest as it's a very large store with inside parking on the ground floor. Since the ticket exit barrier broke they never replaced it so most of the parking is used by folk who don't even shop in the store.

The three parts of Cencosud used to have similar promotions.

Now each one does its own thing.

Makro is now owned and manged by Cencosud and theri promotional programme is totally different

Someone told the missus that Carrefour want to get out of Argentina asap. Any word on the contenders to take it over?

That is what I have noticed as well.

Still, the technology, design, and user interface of each if those three websites is apparently exactly the same. different colors and some other minor differences. In reply this morning to the online experience and potential bugs (showing zero offers when clicking on the cerveza 2x1 offers link) on the Vea website
