If it stops drizzling I'll also be setting fire to the parrilla!

England 6 France 4! Best game of the tournament and some pride at least restored to the England team and that last goal by Bellingham was a peach.

Still dry as a bone here and a tad brighter. There's a very gusty wind blowing so no BBQ. I'm not in the mood anyway.

As for the England result....I'd love to know what the odds were for a 6-4 win. 8|

What will Trump do tonight to make the World Cup Final all about him?

Disqualify both Spain and Argentina and award the trophy to USA?

Nope. Disqualify both Spain & Argentina and keep the trophy for himself.

Very disappointed with Argentina's performance, especially after the game. However, the Spanish players are equally guilty of drama, flinging themselves around in tackles.

Frankly, I'm glad it's now all over and I never thought I'd say that.

Me too. I only watched it because Argentina were in it. I didn't enjoy the long drawn out format, the VAR nonsense or the US razzmatazz.

Time to get back to normality.

The extended format was a pain . Too many teams and too many games .

But FIFA made a pile of cash , so they will be happy.

Infantino is a fool and makes some crazy decisions but as he makes cash , his position will be safe.

The half-time extravaganza had nothing to do with football and I doubt it will be repeated. But you never know...

You mean the Super Bowl halftime show?

I didn't like the cameras fitted to the referees' heads, the VAR, the hydration breaks, or the halftime show. It was more about money than sport. I think even referees' human errors are part of the game. Next time, referees will be replaced entirely by drones and scanners, and if players want to complain, they can chat live with an AI chatbot.

Last night, Argentina made me wonder how on earth they made it to the final. A ghost of a team — defending the whole time, then turning rough once they realized they had no chance of winning. Enzo Fernández's sending-off was the final nail in the coffin.

Our last glimmer of hope would have been to survive extra time and take it to penalties.

A bad game, with bad behavior during and after the match. Better forget about last night.

    I agree serafina

I'm very sad about it all, but will endeavour to wipe the entire experience of yesterday from my mind. The TV channels can't stop harping on about it.

They'd used up all their luck getting to the final. I wish they'd been more positive and attacked from the start as it might have ended better for them. It was one of the worst finals I've ever seen. It was so boring the missus fell asleep watching it.

The Argentina team's post-game lack of sportsmanship was very disappointing.

Argentina disgraced themselves, and the World Cup final, with their charmless petulance (Gift Article)
Argentina's passion was an asset but too often in this World Cup it has spilled over into distasteful aggression

But then, not all was merely embarrassing. There was this as well --

Trump booed by World Cup final crowd, takes part in trophy presentation (Gift Article)
Trump watched Spain's 1-0 victory over Argentina alongside FIFA president Gianni Infantino in a suite at MetLife Stadium.

Yep, the Argentine team let us all down. We didn't see it because I turned the TV off as soon as the ref blew the final whistle. Good for Spain, but frankly, the game was bloody awful.

The team are certainly getting hammered by the foreign press for their antics especially in the UK and quite rightly too. All a bit embarrassing, however here they don't seem to think they did much wrong. I got some flak when I told someone they played bloody awful and the best team overall won the cup.

Yep, they dont take criticism very well, even when it is totally justified.

And while we are unable to take criticism, we are world champions in conspiracy theories.

Qué dicen las teorías conspirativas que se viralizaron tras la derrota de Argentina en la final del Mundial
Miles de usuarios compartieron versiones que atribuyeron el resultado a supuestas presiones externas, intereses políticos y maniobras ajenas al juego
