In this dark time, politic-wise, I find relief in reading positive news. The NYT has a series of green reportages covering most of the US called 50 States, 50 Fixes (so far, they still have 15 States to go). https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/20…ates-fixes.html

Now more than ever, environmental solutions may seem out of reach. But they’re happening all over the country. This year, we’ll be highlighting one thing that’s working in every state.

Where do you get your daily dose of happines on the internet?

Thanks for this positive thread, serafina . I hadn’t seen this series in the NYT.

As to your question, I haven’t had a daily dose of happiness on the internet in a very long time. For me, the internet has become the place I go for news sources that I trust (a very small number these days). I no longer read news with a light heart, but know that I have to stay informed. I don’t do social media or doomscrolling; I just read and answer email and texts, read the news, and get away from the computer as soon as I can.

I've also been enjoying this. Often reading a story not realizing it is in the series until the end. I cannot think of any other regular positive internet reads, though I am confident I do find occasionally. I'll post the next one.

For several years, I followed the Neatorama blog. It is recollect NEAT, weird and interesting news from around the globe, that span from history, tech, sociology, geography to everyday people's life. It provided a lot of fun facts for conversation!

There are more than 20 towns in America called Moscow. Why is that? - The World from PRX
There are about 26 identically named Moscows scattered across the country. A professor and a road tripping author have both tried to figure out why.
