More driven by a tight economy than by environmental purposes, ciruejo is widely spread in Argentina and I can say it has piqued my interest more than once. I always have a look at the 'trash abandoned next to trash bins and once I was even a member of a FB group called Basureros con estilo where people flagged stuff left along the streets. Sometimes it was toilets, others it was broken armchairs, but also old decorations from French houses, statues, paintings, and small items belonging to a far past whose purpose was not clear.
Most of my 'findings' are vases for my terrace: one is half broken, but I like its decadent look. A rusty support allows the tradescantia leaves to fall down. A series of small plastic vases is nice to add an extra layer of flowers on top of the bigger vases. In the past, we found a bamboo library, which we used for a couple of years and then resold. Then we have a small 1-shelf library that fits well under the staircase.
I will try to post pictures later.
Did you ever find anything interesting in Argentina? Do you live by the motto One man's trash is another man's treasure?
