Peter Mandelson has been sacked as ambassador to the USA over his relationship with Epstein, which apparently continued after the paedo was prosecuted.

Peter Mandelson sacked as US ambassador by Keir Starmer over emails to Jeffrey Epstein
The Foreign Office says he was fired "in light of additional information", a day after the prime minister backed him in the Commons.

Always thought Mandelson was an arrogant bastard. Hope the police fully investigate what he's being accused of.

Police assess reports of alleged misconduct after Mandelson emails published
The peer is accused of passing sensitive information to the convicted sex offender while he was business secretary.

The Conservative leader, Kemi Badenoch, is now calling for PM Starmer's head over the Mandelson affair, saying that his position as PM is now untenable.

    I think that's a step too far.

So the PM is responsable for the behaviour of all party members?

Who made Mandelson a Lord? Gordon Brown?

Apparently Starmer appointed him Ambassador to the USA.

Potential problems for Starmer from his own back benchers, more tha the other parties.

I’m sorry for appointing Mandelson and believing his Epstein lies, Starmer says

I don't think it's a hanging offence though and nowhere near as shady as what Johnson got up to.

They probably held a raffle to see who would take the fall. McSweeney lost.

Morgan McSweeney quits as PM's chief of staff following Mandelson scandal
McSweeney says he takes "full responsibility" for advising Keir Starmer to appoint Peter Mandelson as US ambassador.

Jonathan Pie was a little early for Mandelson's arrest, but he does give this perspective, not forgetting that the late Queen gave £12m as compensation to Virginia Guthrie, something I could never get my head around.

New revelations out today, just in time for tonight’s State of the Union address.

Splinter , I think the £12 million was Andrew’s out-of-court settlement with Virginia Giuffre, who was bringing a civil sexual assault case against him for raping her when she was 17 years old. Because Andrew didn’t have £12 million, the late Queen, Prince Philip, and King Charles funded or partially funded the settlement.

The official story was that the Queen ponied up more than half, borrowed some from Prince Philip’s estate, and some from (then) Prince Charles. No updates on whether Andrew paid back the loan. Taking bets?
