I need a scientific explanation as to WHY in Argentina there are so many doorbells not working. Everywhere I got, I come across a sign that says to knock on the door because the buzzer is not working. I have seen visitors applauding to announce they had arrived at their host's place. In modern times, you can simply give a call using your smartphone.

The doorbell of our building has underwent multiple servicing along the years, and still has the very same issue. Some of us do not hear or can't be heard. I can't believe the man went to the moon over fifty years ago and in Argentina they can't even have doorbells working. Our building administration has charged us more than the NASA spent to send Aldrin to the Moon.

I am hearing static noise and very low volume when I pick up the receiver, and today the FedEx man couldn't hear me. He almost left without my documents! When our buzzer worked, it was the one of unit #2 and #5 not working. We had multiple technicians trying to fix it, each of them blaming the previous one for making a mess. It is a very basic buzzer about 10 years old, there is no camera, no touchscreen, just simple buttons to push, a receiver and mic to speak/hear. It is unfucking believable it almost seems a joke!

Clearly, a sense of humour is the primary prerequisite for living in Argentina.

I have become so appreciative of my late grandfather, who did our apartment himself. It wasn't a work of beauty, but we have had the same ring bell since forever (it is older than I am), we never had any mold issues, and the only thing that was changed in 50 years, was the roof.
