Author of The Day of The Jackal and many other thrillers has died aged 86. I've read Jackal numerous times, as well as many others, not to mention having seen the superb Jackal film starring Edward Fox at least four or five times. He inspired many a thriller writer and his journalistic career was the perfect base from which to start.

The Day of the Jackal author Frederick Forsyth dies
Forsyth, who sold 75 million books, is remembered as "one of the world's greatest thriller writers".
