Other thing: we just finished a four-part Netflix British series called Collateral. Absolutely first-rate writing and acting. For enjoyment, my main criterion is: no clichés. This one rates a 100 on that score. Highest recommendation.

He is one of yours, Splinter. From Wikipedia:

When I hear his name, I think of his ghastly play called "Teeth 'N' Smiles." Now I can replace that memory with "Collateral," the first-rate Netflix series Ed recommended.

We've just started Collateral and it looks promising, even if it is a bit of a slow burner.

As a filler I've started watching Designated Survivor again and the plot is certainly more interesting now that I can see the shape of it. Kiefer and his whisper at the end of his sentences...

Tried unsuccessfully to watch Fight Club (1999) the other night. What an awful, dreary, pretentious pile of steaming crap that is. Gave up after 45 mins as not even Brad and his mate Norton could bring this to life.

We are still watching Merlí. Running at 50' per episode, we cannot even get through one per day before either of us fall asleep.

This Spanish TV series is original with twists and turns in every episode and had us glued to the TV through every episode.

The characters spring to life and you really get to know them as they pull off a heist on the Spanish Mint in Madrid.

I just loved it!!! Although it made me cry ....

Very good acting, excellent dialogue between the characters, good pace, love, romance, anger, it had everything except violence. Maybe that's why I liked it so much. Very good summary of the different philosophical currents. And what a lovely language!!!

Looking forward to seeing Pol (Carlos Cuevas) in B.A.!!! I've heard he's coming over soon.

We loved it too and I was su upset the day I watched the finale (and also the next day and the day after that). I was left with a sad feeling... all these promising young fellas with a brilliant teacher... and then half of them had the same life they would have had otherwise. The daughter of the hairdresser became a hairdresser, the son of the lawyer became a lawyer.

I'd love to se Carlos Cuevas, please keep me posted if you read something about his visit to Buenos Aires!

We've had a Grantchester weekend, seasons 1-3. Set in a picturesque village near Cambridge, its protagonist is an Anglican vicar who helps his policeman buddy solve gruesome murders.

I'll give it a try. We are looking this interesting documentary on dirty money in the States. Every episode covers one aspect: shark loans, ruthless CEOs, Trump's ineptitude as a businessman,... Of course, available on Netflix!
