Over the last 20 years we must have been back to the UK about a dozen times, sometimes venturing into France and Spain - I mention that because it's relevant.
On our last trip the thing that struck me was how dirty the place is generally. Bins not being emptied for weeks and everything looking in disrepair and run down.
And the roads are a joke, full of potholes with road signs you can barely read because they are covered in green mould. On the other hand, the roads in France and Spain are pristine in comparison.
It's also overpriced with a couldn't care less attitude to customer service - similar to some places here, to be fair.
Walking down Hereford high street was a revelation in that English seemed to have been relegated to a third or fourth language from what I could hear. Polish was the dominant language.
I completely agree with most of the points raised by this fellow.
This is Birmingham today. In fact, many years ago we used to joke about needing a passport to go to Bradford, Birmingham or Leicester, if you get my drift.
