Selected as cardinal by Francisco two years ago.

He adopted Peruvian nationality after many years living in Chiclayo and was then appointed Bishop of Chiclayo

The last time a Pope was named Leo was between 1878 and 1903, coinciding with the most prosperous period in Argentina's history. Leo XIII, Pope of the Catholic Church during Argentina's Golden Age.

During the presidencies of Julio Argentino Roca, when Argentina was a world power. Julio Argentino Roca was president from 1880 to 1886 and from 1898 to 1904.
