Hi all. I am planning to fly to Argentina in the next few weeks to visit San Bernado. I reviewed this area online and found that not only does it appear stunning. All the people looked very happy and kind. If it is as good as it appears I will plan to relocate myself and my Wife and two daughters. Also our dog.

So I am very well travelled as previously a Yacht Captain however so very Green with regards to Argentina and moving with a family.

So please any and all advice and info would be very supportive and constructive.

    Kind regards Frank

San Bernardo? The town in the west of Buenos Aires province?

Any particular reason ...it's pretty far from anywhere.

I can't help you I'm afraid as I married an Argentine senorita. After living in the UK for five years we moved here permanently. Already had a house so no problem there. My wife of course knew how things work here so getting my permanent residency status was very much smoother than it could have been.

All I can say is the best of luck....you'll need it.

Frank uk , you quickly caught on to something that I think we all find to be true: the Argentine people really are happy, friendly, and infinitely patient when they need to be. Wonderful people.

my partner's family lives there. I've been a couple of times. it is a sleepy little town that gets massively busy in high season with beach visitors. otherwise, there ain't much going on there.

if you are green to life in Argentina, you need to go spend some time in small towns first. they may not be what you are used to compared to say, the US, but even small UK villages are a much different experience.

Thank you for your response. I hope to buy a house after renting for a while to see how well we settle. We can continue to renew our temporary visas after 6 months and so on etc or possibly start or buy a business. I have not found any changes to that policy on residency as yet so if there is more to it I would be very happy for any updates. Kind Regards Frank

Thank you for your response, I have considered this so we will rent firstly and venture around on recommendations and make an adventure out of it. We are keen on the fact that it can be quiet out of season. Out of a long search and endless research Argentina ticks every box for us. Kind regards Frank

Thank you all for being so kind and helpful. The last time I joined a Forum when considering Spain Three years ago I was just attacked non stop relentlessly. Which in turn made the decision not to go very easy.

You seem to have the right attitude which helps. Most of those who start similar threads never come back to let us know how they get on. So don't disappear off the forum as your input and experience of actually doing it would be a valuable resource for others wishing to do the same.

Hi, Yes San Bernado by the sea. In fact the beach looks several miles in length. Very appealing town too.

if you like the idea of small town life...if i can make a suggestion, have a visit to puerto madryn. it's small enough to be plenty quiet but is more of a small city with a bit more to it. you also have the benefit of beautiful wildlife! and being further away from BA you don't get quite the hordes of people in the summertime at the beach from my understanding.

Hi, Great thank you I will take a look. The more options the better. When I book to fly over to take a look, I will only have 7 days and intend to fill them with a mission style method to spend time in as many locations as possible. Thank you for your kind suggestion.

The Atlantic coast is great except in January and February when many holiday makers arrive.

If you decide to rent , make sure January and February are included!

With my upcoming scouting trip I plan to travel down the East coast. San Dement down through a dozen Coastal areas ending in Mar de las Pampas. would it be easy to find a room without booking in April without booking? I know it would be more sensible to plan it better however I dont want to commit to booking when I am sure of how much time I will have. Also how is the public transport? Or would car hire be better? Thank you all. Regards Frank

you better rent a car for a trip like that. I am sure you can probably figure out bus routes, but, who even knows if they go the direction you want to go. should research that well ahead of time if you really want to experience busses in Argentina.

Hi Frank uk , my recollection of public transport on the Atlantic coast is that it is not great .

There are some good long-distance bus services from the capital to certain towns on the coast and then after that it's not great to connect between the smaller towns. But maybe someone has better information as my recollection is based on several visits to Carilo and Pinamar.

Train services are bloody awful with only Mar del Plata having regular service , but only one or two a day.

I think car hire will be your best bet.

What time in April are you planning to go down? It it coincides with Easter , you will probably need to book.
