Although Milei has long been contemptuous of the World Health Organization, he now seems to be blaming the organization, rather than the Fernandez-Kirchner regime, for Argentina’s excessively long Covid lockdown.

And now that trump has exited the WHO, miracle dictu, Milei has followed suit, echoing his mentor’s words and demonizing tactics, calling the W.H.O. “nefarious.”

If Argentina indeed does exit, it will join the USA and Luxembourg as the only UN member states not participating in this United Nations cooperative effort.

The NYT points out that exiting the W.H.O. could cost Argentina. “The benefits Argentina receives from membership far outweigh the cost, including tracking of outbreaks, disease prevention and sharing of technology, said Leandro Cahn, director of Fundación Huésped, a large public health organization in Argentina. ‘The problems the Argentine health system has won’t be resolved by not being part of the W.H.O.,’he said.”

Milei is also a climate change denier like trump. Will he join him is revoking the Paris Climate Accord as well?

This is an interesting take on Milei's copycat moves.

This could be done by explaining clearly to the people how the WHO is set up and how it works politically.

I won't say it is corrupt but sometimes you have to ask why they make certain decisions.

I’m so in favor of countries working together to share information on disease outbreaks and medications. If some countries have disproportionate influence, or if there are political problems, doesn’t it make sense to work together to correct the situation for the good of all, rather than simply removing one’s own country from the network?
