In Scotland if you are the first of the family to be buried in your family grave , it could be as much as eight....

    I didn't know that.

All my nearest and dearest who have passed away during my lifetime were cremated.

Yes, the only depth that really means anything, and for most , funeral directors, in my area, is the 4' to the top of the vault!!!

Where I live, 4' to the top of the vault is usually sufficient. Some funeral directors want it a little deeper!!

My mum and dad are buried in the Philipshill cemetery close to the border between East Kilbride and ThorntonHall

Cremation was banned for Christians until quite recently, when practicality took over.

My family has a tomb, but I have no idea of its capacity. I would say at least 6, maybe 8.

The wife has a family tomb here. I told her when I kick the bucket you can do what you want with me except put me in there. 😁

You can compost yourself in Oregon.. recently approved by law. Not sure where else

Oregon’s human composting law takes effect but services are slow to appear
The state is ready for businesses who want to turn human remains into mulch.

I like a nice tomato or head of lettuce as much as anyone, but I’m thinking “no” on that.

Hopefully most people would think the same and not put in a food producing garden. Though mixed into a flower bed or incorporated into the hole created for a new memorial tree seems within reason.

This thread keeps trending back towards burial. In any case, I’m afraid I can see myself in this obnoxious vicar.

    KD Online (@kheizlinasc) on Threads
Hubby messaged me and said this is so our eldest son. 🤣🤣🤣 Don't argue with him, he literally can kill you with English grammar.

Not grammar related, but I can't find the thread on the Word of the Day (if we have one - do we?).

I was reading an amazon review and the person mentioned buying the item as a "White Elephant Christmas Gift"

I had never heard the term, and according to Wikipedia it means:

    Here we are

    Thread

    Word of the day

As used in Google maps to describe a BA suburb.

    agglomeration

    əɡlɒməˈreɪʃ(ə)n/
    noun
a mass or collection of things; an assemblage

I've always known a white elephant to be something that's not fit for the purpose it's intended for. My missus has lots of them lying in a cupboard.

Talking of elephants, one of my favourites is the elephant in the room. Everyone knows it's there but no none wants to address it.
