Yes, the only depth that really means anything, and for most , funeral directors, in my area, is the 4' to the top of the vault!!!

Where I live, 4' to the top of the vault is usually sufficient. Some funeral directors want it a little deeper!!

Cremation was banned for Christians until quite recently, when practicality took over.
My family has a tomb, but I have no idea of its capacity. I would say at least 6, maybe 8.

Hopefully most people would think the same and not put in a food producing garden. Though mixed into a flower bed or incorporated into the hole created for a new memorial tree seems within reason.
