The missus finally managed to make the payment to GOV.UK for her online application to have her passport renewed. She had to send her current passport to the UK as part of the process so went to the Correo office today to post it. The cost for delivery with full tracking was 70000 pesos. Which I thought was pretty hefty but maybe not after seeing what the likes of DHL charge.

I'll be renewing my passport in March and have these ridiculous prices to contend with then, which no doubt will be even higher.

Still, for such an important document, it's worth it. Mind you, they don't accept credit cards at post offices, which I'm sure are still run by the Soviet Union.

They did offer a half price option. Problem is it's only tracked while it's in Argentina.

I regularly mail documents to the US and Europe using FedEx. The cost ranges from $35 to $55. I purchase my labels through an intermediary (Eurosender). FedEx picks up the envelope at my address but I can also drop it off at one of their offices. They have one in microcentro, belgrano, and Martinez.
Takes 2-3 working days to arrive.

    Nothing like that here.

There is an Andreani branch in Chivilcoy. It will be definitely more expensive than Correo Argentino for an Intl. shipping, but at least it is tracked. It will be rebranded (likely, DHL) for the part outside of Argentina.

Yes we get deliveries from Andreani regularly they're very good. The Correo service the wife chose is fully tracked to the destination as well. I thought it was pricey but I suspect the others are around the same if not more expensive. They're probably quicker though.

Change that designation from “Special Delivery” to “Not-So-Special Delivery.”

The UK Passport office has just notified the missus they received her package. Correo's 70,000 'special delivery' with full tracking' has taken 15 days to reach its destination.

I did tell the missus the 30,000 special delivery option would have been a better choice as it would likely be treated the same. When my turn comes to renew mine I know which one I'll be buying.

She paid using her Banco Provincia account card.
