I definitely am! It's the highlight of my travels - trying new food, preferably in the shabby joints patronized by the locals.

And, for the record, the best chippy I ever went to was on the waterfront in Ullapool. Haddock filets as long as my arm, and crispy fried perfection.

Hum, I have weened off of seafood. UK Man ! I did have my fair share of seafood 🍤 back when back in the day, but I have weaned off since moving to Argentina!
Nothing more than pizza and milanesa left to try our for me, in the capital!
I’d be curious to know if you were able to introduce seafood into the locals’ food diet, UK Man !

Given the proximity to the coast , fish distribution in Buenos Aires is bloody awful.

It’s a shame, really. But at least we have the opportunity to buy from China, the fish their mammoth fishing vessels poach from Argentine waters.

As an avid fisherman, I was a little surprised to find out deep sea fishing isn't much of a thing in Argentina, even around Mar del Plata.
I guess I'll have to settle for freshwater fishing for golden dorado.

I think freshwater fishing must be an exciting sport in the mountain streams of Patagonia, @daveholman .

I used to enjoy that sort of thing, then I got hooked on fighting marlin and sailfish and tuna and the like.

Though I hear the dorado are a lot like tarpon. Not huge, but strong and feisty. I'm willing to give it a try.

I think we had a forum member who was coming to Argentina for a fish trip. I think he was headed in the Bariloche area, but I could be wrong.

Bariloche is a good area for fishing, especially around Villa La Angostura.

I've not done any sea fishing in Argentna however I have a fishing friend here who regulatly does. The sea fishing is excellent but you do have to travel far to do it.

Back in the 70s I used to fish on the Gare Loch and at Wemyss Bay there's a power station where the mackerel would gather.

We used to catch dozens and then fry them up on the boat!

Back then there used to be big +30lbs cod caught from a boat off the Gantocks. Sadly no more.
