Not content with trying to starve out political exiles in the Argentine embassy in Caracas by cutting off the electric and water supply, an Argentine Gendarme who was visiting his wife and daughter in that country, has been detained/kidnapped by Maduro's intelligence service and possibly held in the notorious prison in the capital.

His family and lawyers have been denied access. What will this government do about this?

    Quote

Speaking to Radio Rivadavia, Soto confirmed that the Argentinean gendarme entered the country legally: “He is a gendarme who went to see his daughter and wife, who has residency in Argentina. He went the cheapest way possible through Chile, Bogota and the border with a taxi. There they took his phone, where they saw the messages from his wife saying that the country was a dictatorship and things like that and they arrested him together with the driver of the taxi”.

This gendarme is one of many foreigners detained by Maduro's regime. Two Spanish tourists in September accused of being a terrorist cell, two Columbian soldiers, a further seven Columbian soldiers after that and ten American citizens were exchanged not long ago.

Also, to complicate matters, the six Venezuelan exiles in the empty Argentine embassy add to the diplomatic drama as does the retention of an Emtrasur (Venezuelan/Irani) Boeing 747 in Argentina for the last eight months, but later returned to the USA.

There is also personal animosity between Maduro and Milei, but also a hope that French President, Macron may intervene.

It's a tit for tat, Iran style.

Macron, however, has his hands full at home, at the moment.
