He's doing what he promised he would do, but there's still a long way to go and I'm optimistic.

Inflation is still the main problem so it'll be interesting to see what he says.

Is inflation the result of a widespread habit / fear of the future or actually the result of a rigged economy?
because the news seems to suggest that everything is falling into place according to Milei’s plans, but I still see prices in pesos going up and the dollar being stuck at 1000+ so that items are still the same crappy quality, just more expensive even in dollar terms.

Many of the regular purchases that I make haven't gone up for at least a couple of months, so it's definitely working.

I'm no economist. I just get the feeling those in the retail sector are either forced to keep high prices or are just greedy bastards. Probably a bit of both.

I agree. Prices on ML vary wildly and as an example, I did a search for Bird of Paradise plants (in the garden thread, I'm getting six for $22k) and this is what I found.

You're right, certain basic essentials have remained stable. Cerveza on the other hand even the Argie ones just keep going up and up.

My weekly locally produced sliced loaf has also remained stable in price.

Golden Virginia 30g has remained at $8500 since late October, miraculously.

Still, 50G in the UK is nearly £40!

The wife watched it late last night. He didn't half rabbit on quickly.....she fell asleep. So I'm none the wiser what he said.

I wish he would be more personal without notes and has anyone noticed that Karina, his sister, seems to have had a makeover?

    This one is very accurate:

Maggie Anders is a great presenter! I don't always agree with her but I like the way she delivers.

He certainly has a way with words. Don't tempt them, Javi!

It seems the ridiculous regimen to which passengers are subjected for purchases abroad when traveling is not going away.

ARCA precisó cuáles son los artículos que no se podrán ingresar al país desde enero 2025

    Nothing new under the sun:

    • cannot import anything illegal (firearms and drugs) or for commercial resale.
    • $500 purchase limit per passenger
    • Max 1 notebook and 1 phone or tablet per passenger

This is one of the things that has buggered me the most in the past. It is bloody third-world!!

I have the urge to bring 3 or 4 laptops and a half dozen phones with me to sell.

But getting busted at Customs is probably not the best idea before applying for a resident visa

Dave , that's exactly the thing you shouldn't do. Electronics , especially laptops and cell phones , are high on the customs search list , and they will show up on the customs x ray equipment..

I know of a guy who brought in 6 Iphones, secretly hidden in his jacket. They didn't see the phones but they caught 6 empty boxes on the x ray machine. As a result he had a secondary search and caught a hefty fine and lost the phones.
