    Hi everyone,

I’m from Algeria and I’m planning to study in Argentina soon. I’m about to finish my high school baccalaureate, but I found out that I need a statement of equivalence to continue with my studies in Argentina. From what I understand, to get this, I have to go through something called Formación Nacional.

I’m a bit confused about what exactly this is—do I need to take an exam? Is it a course? Where do I even go to do this? I’d love to hear from anyone who has gone through this or knows how the process works.

Also, what are my chances of getting to Argentina with my situation? Any advice would be super helpful!

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi LizardK

This is almost certainly something that merely confirms what your current academic qualifications equate to in terms of Argentine qualifications.

This is a common, even essential requirement for most overseas students applying to study in another country.

I did my higher education in a country with an Agreement with Argentina, so I was speed tracked. In your case, you should follow the steps outlined in this page of the Ministry of Education: https://www.argentina.gob.ar/educacion/tram…es-sin-convenio

The Argentine Embassy in Algeria has a page outlining the steps, specifically for Algerian titles: https://earge.cancilleria.gob.ar/es/content/emp…-en-argentina-1

In my experience, getting your title validated is just a matter of paperwork uploaded on the Ministry of Education website. The will issue the certificate as a digitally signed PDF.

With that, you can enroll into any University in Argentina. The admission requirements (in terms of language knowledge) vary depending on the institution where you are going to apply and the program you are interested into.

First, thank you for the comprehensive answer, but there is still something that is not clear to me.

Is the equivalency certificate required by all universities, or only public ones?

    Hello, LizardK ,

I am studying at a private university and the equivalence was mandatory. It is required at the time of enrollment and you are given a few months to provide it. You can still attend classes, but if you don’t produce the equivalence certificate you won’t be issued a diploma.

High schoolers can do a pre-enrollment even before actually finishing their high school, but then they have to provide the high school diploma.

Thank you for the support!
