Not that I’m any kind of expert but this seems very strange to me. I wonder what they think is going on or about to go on?

I know, it's perplexing. What is worrying is the Russia/N. Korea friendship.

Reading updates, this looks to be an internal matter with the current president on the ropes and unable to get his laws passed in parliament.

I think he's going to regret this move.

The afternoon updates have been first that Parliament voted to overturn the President’s decision; next, that the Military had said they stood with the president; and just now, that the president had backed down.

A lot of activity in a very few hours.

South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol said early Wednesday local time that he would lift the martial law he had imposed just hours earlier and that he had ordered the withdrawal of troops from the streets of Seoul. The reversal came after lawmakers convened urgently to vote to overturn the president’s decree and crowds of protesters gathered outside the National Assembly to demonstrate against the extraordinary move.
