Like almost everyone else our mobile phone prices have increased tremendously since the start of the year.

Today I started to look about the competition.

We are with Movistar at the moment.

Claro has offered me a discount of 80%off my current price for a year.

    It's bloody incredible.

I'm with Movistar but as the missus takes care of the cost I have no idea what plan I'm on. I hope it doesn't cost much as I very rarely use it.

Probably three times more than it did , 12 months ago.

If Claro works well in Chivilcoy, it's worth having a look at the prices.

We have Movistar for our two mobile lines. We pay aprox. 37-38k pesos in total. I remember that aficionado mentioned Claro for tourists pre-paid plan, but it is currently 15.500 pesos, so not a steep change. My husband voted against switching phone operators for now, but he wanted to give Movistar a call to see if they can improve their price.

It is a hassle and it feels like bargaining in a souk, to me, but this is how it works with phone companies here.

I think it is with phone companies everywhere, serafina . And internet providers, as well. You have to be willing to cancel your service before they give you the best deal.

We moved Adri from Movistar prepaid to Claro on a proper plan since I'm with them as well. She also kept her number and I have some TV packs on mine so we pay around 32k for both.

Also, when we were in Spain, we bought her new Samsung Galaxy A25 5G for around 230 euros and the same phone here is considerably more.

The Galaxy Note 8 is now up for sale.

My current movistar pack is 42,000 , Mrs GJ has one with less data at 32,000 and GJ Jr has one at 18,000.

    Claro have quoted 15,000 , 10,000 and 8,000.

As you can see the savings are considerable.

They are also throwing in some TV packs.

We will decide today whether we try and bargain with Movistar or just go and make the change

Just found out the missus changed from Movistar to Personal a while ago after being offered a good deal to swap. As my plan with Movistar is very basic Personal didn't want me.

In USA the cellular companies sales people get bonuses for converting a customer from a different company. They can give deals they will not give their existing customers. So many people just hop every year or two. They lock you by also giving a special price on the phone that is paid as installments. Seems the same here in Argentina . Here and US I find the best way to keep some leverage is to own the phone separately from the service contact.

We are on Movistar and considering the deals.

It's the same her with ISPs and insurance companies. I halved my bike insurance by shopping around.
